lol, I'm 20 and other than the race director I'm the 4th oldest regular at the club although about 4 others would be regulars if it wasn't for work, it's silly, those with the money for RC racing don't have the time

See the insomnia's no better!
I'm about to order an R2 after seeing one close up ar the weekend 'ichynads' on this forum. What, if any spares would you advise ordering with the car, is anythink likely to break? Also, I keep seeing mentions of the PAL drive system and Alloy centre supports, are these both to do the same job and would you say they were that necessary for stock class racing?
You're in Scotland aren't you? I'm originally from NE England and been to a few tracks up there, where abouts do you race?
Cheers

I ordered a spare diff so i could run a normal diff up front, I also got some c-hubs and steering blocks, just in case. I have some spare rear hubs too but thats mainly as an option to reduce rear toe in. The car is very strong and I've not needed any of my spares yet. I've not fitted any options yet but I'd like the alloy shaft holders as my first alloy part. The drive system looks nice but I can imagine it costing a fair bit and it isn't as important. Dave also reccomends the alloy c-hubs, I think they would be a good idea too, as long as they are better than some I've seen for other cars, namely a set for a Losi that a club mate found bent badly causing some interesting handling You will want a couple spare spur gears, seems most people strip one at the start
I race at Ayr, we move to Kilwinning for outdoors, I've been to Carlisle a few times now, it's amazing the difference in weather that the 90miles from Glasgow to the North of England seems to make.

The drive system is NOT necessary unless you want to run 64p gears.
The alloy center shaft supports are a good investment if you feel that the stock plastic ones are too flexy. I found that the stocks ones tend to flex slightly if you apply pressure on them, could be an issue if you ever run mod if not the stock ones should work fine.
If you don't want to splash out on two center shaft supports I would recommend getting just one and place it on the front diff hub this will reinforce the front of the car during a hard crash.
This car has very few parts that will break. I have hit boards at full speed and the car has kept on ticking without a hitch.
Stuff I would keep for spares:
Front one way gear
Front bevel gear
Some arms ( each pack comes with 1 front and 1 rear arm )
Rear hubs ( stock ones have too much toe in, they are -2, car already has -2 built-in toe so with stock hubs you get -4 toe!)
Stuff I would buy as additional hop ups:
2 pairs of 1.5 x 5.25mm springs (best for ashphalt)
The stock springs are a little too soft.

Itchynads & hermi
Thanks for the reply, just to be sure, the only 1 degree rear knuckles I could find were part No. 6113 for the Barracuda R1 are these what I need to reduce the rear toe on the R2?
Itchynads That was one fast car you had at TFTR on Sunday, looked really nice too! The main reason I'm getting one!
Hermie - Been to Carlisle a couple of times myself, nice track and a friendly crowd, I'll see you there at the end of the year with a bit of luck!
