I've just bought a V3 and I've started with a boosted 17.5. I don't think there are too many people running this combo, so even ideas for an open asphalt track with a 13.5 would be great to see as a starting point. I'm using a revtech 17.5 if that helps. Thanks in advance - this is a huge learning curve!

Half of Sydney use this esc in 17.5, might want to consider another motor though the rev techs don't handle boost very well

Hey folks, was looking through thread trying to find a good set up for an xe run 60 A speedo with a speed passion 3.0 17.5 in short course 2wd. Most set ups here are for on road correct? Anyone run that set up in SC ? And got a good set up? Thanks.

Thanks mr rolla. Do you have any idea which motors do handle boost pretty well? Orcas? Speed passions?
Thanks mate.

The most popular motor in nsw is the D3.5 17.5, they filled 7-8 out of the 10 spots at our recent state titles. Speed passion v3 is also a strong motor

How fast is the Xerun 1S esc compared to Tekin or Viper? In boost that is? Run 13.5 boosted and have not bought a new esc yet. Open for suggestions.

You will not be underpowered in Boosted/Turbo mode, or with the Blinky software. You just need to figure out how much boost/turbo you will like with the motor you are running.

Brakes are weak in the blinky software, but fine in the 930 boost/turbo software.

Hi guys,

I'm just returning to racing after a break. I'm going to be running 13.5 boosted with a Thunder Power 13.5 motor and V2.1 Xerun ESC.

Can anyone suggest some initial settings I can try please?

Thanks
Dan

Guys I need help. I race in the 21.5 boosted touring car class. Until now, I used a HW 120A V2.1 ESC and an LRP X12 21.5 motor.

I race at TFTR in Melbourne Australia, and we are currently using Track 2 Reversed - http://www.tftr.org.au/index.php?p=1_46

My old settings with this setup were -

HW 930 Stock
FDR - 4.8:1
Endbell timing - 27.5 degrees (4 Dot)
DRRS - 4
Boost - 20
Turbo - 12
Turbo Slope - 18
Start RPM - 4,000
Turbo Delay - 0.2 Sec
Timing Acc - 450
LRP Radical motor heat sink and fan on motor

With these settings, I had great infield punch and reasonable top end (not the best in class, but I didn't mind). After a 6min race, the motor temps were around 80 - 85 degrees C.

I have just upgraded to a Reedy Sonic and HW V3 ESC, and just tried the following on the car stand -

Motor - Reedy Sonic 21.5
Endbell Timing - 0
FDR - 5.7:1
Still running the LRP Radical Fan & Heatsink
Punch Rate Switch Point - 5%
1st Punch Rate - 30
2nd Punch Rate - 30
Th Curve - Linear
Boost - 35
Boost Start RPM - 1,500
Boost End RMP - 12,000
Boost Slope - Linear
Boost By Throttle - No
Turbo - 25
Turbo Act - Full Throttle
Full Throttle Delay - 0.2 Sec
Turbo Engage Slope - 24deg/0.1S
Turbo Disengage Slope - 18deg/0.1S

If though I have only ran the settings on a car stand and not on the track yet, I can already tell that bottom end & mid range punch are severely lacking - it feels like 21.5 blinky until the turbo kicks in, and the transition isn't smooth.

Could someone help me with some settings to regain the lost bottom end & mid range, and smooth out the throttle ? This is my main concern at the moment. I want to run fairly conservative overall boost & turbo settings (35 & 25) until I temp the motor properly after a race.

And help would be greatly appreciated. The V3 ESC seems awesome, but the new settings & features are initially confusing.

Let me preface the following by saying I haven't run that combination. I've used the Reedy in blinky and the V3 with a 17.5, so take this as general observations...

As a starting point, the FDR of 5.7:1 is waaay too short. Most of the Reedy motors are quite "torquey", so I'd guess somewhere closer to 4.5 (or even taller) would be a better starting point. In blinky, 2.9 is not uncommon with that motor.

Secondly, I'd add a little static timing to the motor can. Not too much to start with, but that should help it feel a bit more alive off the line.

I think the boost start at 1,500 is too low - the motor is barely moving before you start throwing timing at it which will generate more heat than speed. Maybe move it up to 4,000 or more.

Give that a whirl - the actual boost/turbo numbers don't look too aggressive, but do short runs and keep a good eye on temps.

Phil.

Thanks Phil. Most of the guys in my class at my track run an FDR of around 5 - 5.5, so that's roughly what I chose to start with.

Hello,

I just received two 1S HW 120A ESC.

Any help of settings on a 12th scale with a 10.5 with zero timing (blinky)? It's for an indoor carpet track that is small and technical. Here is a vid:

For now I didn't upgrade any software or anything.
