Team Associated TC4

I guess, it is official now that the TC4 will hit the hobbyshops this month.

OSherman 09-01-2004 10:05 AM

Looks very interesting... that's for sure...

Chazz 09-01-2004 10:12 AM

I must say it does look like a tc3 with a cgm chassis on it and the weaker parts like the wishbone and shock towers are thicker (think i'll stick with my tc3 at the moment)

Chazz

Wency_TA03R-PRO 09-01-2004 10:32 AM

weaker parts you said??!.. just have timeto read on the updates and modification of this TC4.

Factory Team

Did they announce yet when the FT kit will come out? Hopefully around Xmas.

StephenSobottka 09-01-2004 11:11 AM

I'm getting the team version right away. I'll update when I can as soon as the other parts are released.

Brian Anthony 09-01-2004 01:09 PM

I went to my hobby shop today and they said that the distributor said they the hobby shops should get them in Oct. as they won't get them till the end of sept. if all goes smoothly.

mtc3od 09-01-2004 01:15 PM

im not complaining or anything but it looks like the new car might be a little on the heavy side for club racing. The thicker arms and huge motor mount. I wonder how it compares to the tc3 and others in weight.

Chris Reilly 09-01-2004 02:54 PM

How can you be concerned about the weight ? There is far less material in the make up of the chassis. This car is going to be awesome like the rest of there line up. My TC3 needs 8 x1/4 ounce pieces of weight to make it to the minimum weight requirement as it is. This will end up being the car you have all been waiting for. Sell your CGM and get the real deal. All the complaints have been adressed in the new TC4. This kit is mostly brand new parts. Hurry and put your order in while supplies last. It' going to sell fast.

TeeCeeRacer 09-01-2004 08:34 PM

TC4

There not going to be able to keep up with supply and demand, but i hope they keep up with parts. That has always been one of there strong points.

The Black Kat 09-01-2004 09:33 PM

I'm contemplating getting the parts nessesary for the conversion...

I hope Associated releases a conversion kit for less than what it'd cost to get the parts seprately....

Arms
Knuckles
Hingepins/Braces/Castor Spacers
Shock Towers
Steering System
Rear Uprights
Rear Camber Link mount
New Bearings/Screws if applicable
$100+ right there

I don't nessesarily need the new chassis...could just mill out the existing motor mount and bolt in the one from the IRS chassis but if Associated makes a true conversion I'd think they'd include a chassis

From AE's TC4 page:

Will there be a Factory Team version TC4?
Yes, but not for a year or so.

onnetz 09-01-2004 09:48 PM

somebody beat me to it...

well here is the link to a few Q&A.

http://teamassociated.com/shusting/C...tc4/kittc4.htm

I know I'm not waiting a year for the factory team version... :D

micros_rock 09-01-2004 10:39 PM

Yay! :D

micros_rock 09-01-2004 10:40 PM

Anyone know how the forced air induction works yet?

Nightbreed 09-01-2004 10:52 PM

does anyone know...

if the cell slots are larger for better cell cooling and if AE is going with a larger bearing in the hubs? Just curious and keeping my fingers crossed.:D

Nightbreed 09-01-2004 10:54 PM

one more thing...

how does that air induction thingy work? We need a pic of it installed.

forty6 09-02-2004 08:02 AM

A year for a FT??? Nobody can wait that long..:)

JWATT 09-02-2004 08:19 AM

If they said the FT kit would be available soon, fewer people would buy the team kit now.

Wency_TA03R-PRO 09-02-2004 08:39 AM

that's why more racers buy the TC4 this released and they will be just replacing the old stuff to make it as close as the FT TC4 series...

Steve Weiss 09-02-2004 09:28 AM

Are there milled out holes on the underside of the chassis we can't see?

coolrcdad 09-02-2004 09:58 AM

No FT version for a year or so according to AE. Major bummer.

RCBuddha 09-02-2004 10:12 AM

i'm still trying to figure out how that fan system works...where do you mount that thing?

Charlie O 09-02-2004 10:28 AM

Did they beef up the front steering blocks? i'm always stripping the ballstud hole on the top & the screw hole on the bottom after a hit.

GTIRACER 09-02-2004 10:39 AM

They took alot of the TC3 tricks and incorperated them in the TC4. I see it as a refined TC3. But if you already have a milled chassis and maybe even the Nitro steering rack as many people do I dont know how much of a better car it wil actually be. The TC3 is still a great car. I just want that TC4 motor mount:nod:

vtl1180ny 09-02-2004 10:50 AM

I hate the fact that they are stil using the camber link ballstud as a kingpin for the hub....[

T Allen 09-02-2004 10:55 AM

last i heard the factory guys like the tc3 better also heard that AE is going to buid a prototype pf a belt drive car similar to an xray

vtl1180ny 09-02-2004 11:05 AM

I'm definitely not impressed.... I won't be replacing my TC3 anytime soon... Oh yea, I have the Yok CGM already, don't need an AE copy...

Not only that. Everybody will buy the team tc4 now and buy every hop-up part as it comes out and then when the ft tc4 comes out probably with other new parts everyone will buy that too. So they're making 3 times as much money as they would make if they just released a ft kit right away.

T Allen 09-02-2004 11:21 AM

yup AE copy yokomo but the yok is better

lem2 09-02-2004 11:26 AM

The way I see it....

if our not going to use your TC3 or if you have spares and extra Hop Ups/high end bearings - use them in the TC4, if you can't wait for the FT version.

Graphite Diffs. Blue print it right away
Since the knuckle hubs are still plastic/composite use the Losi Knuckles/C-Hubs

Use the Ti Turnbuckles from the TC3

And since the material is composite, which may be softer than the coming Graphite chassis. An upper deck may be needed (calling WarpSpeed.......)

But until we buy the Team version, we will never know. That's the most painful thing.
On the other hand, the team TC3, in capable hands can blow away any tourer for that matter. Oh well, guess we are all suckers since we love the TC3 so much!

Peace and Happy Racing!!
Lem

ps: i already made reservations :D

I don't agree guys. How many of you know, or are, a racer with two and three TC3s? A lot!. The AE "diehard" fans will readily support the platforms. AE may not make the bulk of the revenue up front, but they will get it. People will purchase every hop-up (AE or otherwise) and scaled down version, AE has to offer. AE has a cult following.

Glitch Man 09-02-2004 03:02 PM

Should I buy a TC4

Should I buy a tc4 if I already have a TC3 with a BMI chasy? Anyone know if it is any better?
