Dropoff is mostly caused by the battery falling into the discharged section of the pack. once you get down to 3.8 v per cell the power output decreases as it gets closer to the cutoff and you will notice that as a lack of power.
It comes on suddenly due to the discharge curve as per here http://i.stack.imgur.com/LV91V.gif
right at the 3.8 mark the voltage drops drastically over time
When racing onroad I like to have my battery come off at 3.8v or higher so I need to have about double the mAh that I need to run.
Cheers

Running 5 minute heats with shorty in 17.5 tc and 17.5 off-road with a 4200 60c turningy shorty I come off track between 7.8 and 8.0 volts and during practice I can run better than 15minutes before my esc voltage cutoff kicks in. I may not be in tune as some of you die hard guys but I run consistent laps start to finish and don't notice the drop off.

I have been running a shorty in my car and there is some drop-off but it's not bad. My shorty is a good one though, an IP 4800 90C with only 20 charges or so on it.

Who makes a good set of shocks for the tc4?

@solo1 the factory team threaded shocks are nice if built right. If you have a bigger budget tamiya shocks are some of the nicest shocks you can get.

Hey guys I need a reasonable(none of that 3.5 Novak crap Bert) suggestion for a mod motor. Doesn't have to be brand specific just looking for turns. I'm going to be running small to medium carpet tracks so top end isn't a huge concern but I want to keep up. I'm leaning towards a 6.5 but am open to suggestions.

I run a castle mamba max pro for an esc it doesn't have boost just timing.
Well then Gooba, I would have to recommend between a 4.5t and 5.5t with low boost.... Lrp X20 motors are preferred with these winds.... I also don't think a 6.5t motor would be a good investment in mod racing... If these winds are too fast for some tracks, just turn your throttle EPA down a bit... At least you won't have to get a faster motor when the layout changes....
6.5 runs nice in a TC4,
