What diameter are the hinge pins on the TC4? (inner & outer)
After searching around a little on the web, Titanium rods are not as expensive as you might lead people to believe. For small diameter stuff like what we use is only about 3-7 dollars a foot which would yield many sets that will last forever.
Carbon hinge pins are ummm........... unrealistic and expensive

One set of tc4 titanium hinge pin is $16.99 or more, and does not weigh two grams... It is my experiment, and I will not recommend it to anybody else...
The tc4 inner hinge pin diameter is 2.75mm, and the outer ones have a diameter of 2.34mm....

Well, I have to say that I was disappointed. First off, I made the mistake of running three classes. My cars needed work and I could not keep up with them (Lesson Learned). I raced my FT TC4 in 17.5, but the car did not handle well. I got punted in the main and the pinion gear got loose. I have since installed a spool in the front and changed the motor over to a 21.5.

I have two other belt driving cars that handled well. My 13.5 car was very good and I might have made the Amain if I did not hit a dot. I lost about two seconds. My 21.5 car was good, but it lacked straight line speed. I changed gearing, but lap times were not better. I need to set up this car better. I also has a dnf with this car in the main......the spur stripped when I got nailed.

I am not giving up on the TC4, I just need more time with it.... What is interesting is that I could handle the car ok on my high grip track, but this track had less traction. I was all over the place. I had my dual rate down to 52, but to no avail. As others have suggested, a spool in the front will help me in this area (I hope). I even used SXT 2.0 and 3.0.

I did have fun though. I plan on attending two more on road races in the next month.

The tracks I race on >>> SXT 2.0 and 3.0 doesn't work.

Like everything else in RC, it's a track thing.

Chassis setup can be a mind melt down at times.

Have always had AE 50wt oil front and rear, fit's my driving. Changed to 35 front and 30 rear for Jan and Feb (cold-ish weather, WELL it is for Florida). Completely changed the car. went from very stable (didn't need to micro manage the steering on the straights) to a tail happy t**d!

One change, completely changed the car.

Speaking of hinge pins...I have made my own in the past

At my local Hobbytown USA, they have a sales display of different diameters of steel rods (as well as threaded rod). I was able to find some rod that was basically the same diameter to TC3 hinge pins. I cut the rod to the same length as the hinge pins using a dremel cut-off disc. I then used the dremel to sand and polish the hinge pins so that they worked smoothly in the TC3 a-arms.

I do have to add that while it wasn't really that difficult to make my own hinge pins, it was time consuming. The only way I would make my own hinge pins again is if the type I needed was discontinued by the manufacturer.

There's no need to change silicon shock oil due to colder weather. One of the neat properties of silicone oils is that their viscosity is unaffected by temperature changes.

It's not the oil that changes, but rather the plastic pistons, aluminum shock body, bladders, etc, that change with colder weather... I always run 40wt and change pistons... It costs less...
