That would be the FT TC4. I hear that the stock mount is tough to find these days.

Here are pics of my mount. I intend to make it convertible for either right or left motor configurations.

It's taller than the FT mount though so it's not a direct fit.

Nego,
What's wrong with the FT mount you have now? Unless it's truly mangled, it might be repairable. Retapping screw holes or cleaning it up with a mill might be possible.

It's ok for now, just trying to find a better option, but I'll do my best to make it work for the time being.

does anyone know how to keep debris out of the chassis? I use my TC4 for drifting, onroad, and rally but always blow my spur gears out with tiny rocks or sticks. Ive seen a few people cover the bottom of the chassis with aluminium but I still have rocks that get into the top of the chassis.

Not for the tc4 but on my old AE GT2 chassis i converted to eletric I took an old body and heat formed it over the chassis and electronics with a heat gun to create a dust cover.

Since i set it up as a SC for my son to run it needed some internal protection from dirt and stuff.

Worked perfect as I custom made it fit.

The best way to keep debris out of the chassis would be to use an inner body kit, such as what was available for HPI Rally cars and some of offroad trucks. As far as I know, there was never an inner body kit made for the TC3/TC4.

The inner body kit is basically a smaller body (usually with a molded driver or basic interior) that mounts tightly to the chassis and keeps out dirt/debris. You could make your own custom inner body kit with lexan. Most hobby stores sell thin sheet lexan that could be bent/formed as needed.

The primary reason dirt/debris gets inside a TC3/TC4 chassis is due to the fact that there are no inner wheel wells/fenders on the bodies we use. The tires are flinging the debris up into the interior of the car's body and it is falling back down onto the chassis/driveline.

Since you mentioned that you are drifting, you might consider getting a lexan interior and modifying it to further seal the chassis. Several companies like Tamiya & Mcallister make lexan interiors. Tamiya makes both left & right hand drive interiors.

-----------

Another simple, but time consuming method to keep debris out of the car is to clean the surface you are using it on. A leaf blower or push broom can normally clean up the racing/playing surface so that very little debris will make it inside the body.

Can anyone tell me how the TC4 would do as an all-around basher? I don't plan on doing any competitive racing with it. Just speed runs in the parking lot, maybe raise the ride height up and do some dirt rallying, or put hard tires on it and learn to drift.

It's perfect for that. Except for the pinion/spur, it has a sealed drivetrain. It's a proven, durable platform with tons up hop up and regular parts availability.

How hard is it to switch from touring to rally to drift? Are there countersteer mods available for drifting?

I just got a tc4 e few months ago and have run about 500 or more minutes........my car has held up very well........my brother has a tc3 and his has done good also.......no drivetrain problems.......very few broken parts for all the stuff we hit. Anything that broke......was understandable and should have broken.

You might get a tc3 a little cheaper...........only major difference i notice is how the steering rack functions.

Got all my stuff on ebay.
