It's amazing how capable the car is right out of the box, and with a little TLC, can be a contender in classes like VTA.....like mine.

Just got my club racer tonight. Here's what's in the box...

BTW, does anyone know what tooth spur I have stock? It's not the 72 tooth spur I was expecting.

Odd, on the AE site, it calls out a 72t spur.... and I can't remember what my stock gear was, I switched to 64p right away.

Default TC4 Club Racer - VTA

Looking for a setup for club racer for VTA. Looked on AE website, 2006 was the latest setup and not for the club racer. Run high bite carpet 25.5. Want to build the NTC/TC3 threaded shock kit and replace stock springs. Already put aluminum CVA on as I broke the plastic one the first day. Changed to 64 pitch 3.97 FDR and advanced timing on the ballistic motor. Other that that it is completely stock. Getting better at driving good lines and need to get the car handling a bit better to carry more speed through sharp corners.

Thanks

You should be a bit more specific. There are a fair number of people here who can help.

I just received my new club racer through AMAIN and counted the spur; 69T.

I don't know what specifics are needed.

I run an indoor CRC carpet track. Fastest VTA times are 13.2 seconds.

I have the aluminum shock ntn/tc3 shocks to put on. But don't know what shock oil is need. I have stock blue springs on front and rear. Thinking of changing to gold on front silver on rear (from searching internet). Changed the front CVA to aluminum, broke the plastic ones right away.

I have run offroad and there are specific setup sheets on the internet, but for the TC4 there isn't a basic setup for carpet VTA. Seems that someone out there has a decent starting point.

THanks

Specifically, what is your car doing wrong?

Is it loose on corner entry, pushing on corner exit, traction rolling, etc...

As for setups, kinda surprised no one has chimed in, but these two setups are good places to start. You should also check with the people at your track.

http://www.teamassociated.com/pdf/ca...ekend_2005.pdf

The notable setup options are the 40wt shock oil, 2 degree caster hubs, Silver front springs, Green rear springs, front solid axle.

this is my 1st TC4...I love my 3 and was looking to see what a baseline(boxstock) TC4 Club Racer could do...

I added the fan duct system, which works great

http://www.teamassociated.com/parts/details/31037/

and the thumb screws and brace

http://www.teamassociated.com/parts/details/31039/

In the manual, its shows about the web fix and I switched to 64p...in a 78 spur and 54 pinion, FDR 3.61 w/ reman Novak SS

Im also using the XP 1313 servo, and HW Juststock esc...with Reedy Wolfpack5000 25c lipo w/ bullet connectors

Now for setup...nothing...I put the stuff in the car and it was great...set TQ and won the main on an inverted start...

Changes I plan on making

5 mm ride height f/r
35 wt f
30 wt r
VCS3 Shock Kit w/ RSD bladders
RSD springs yellow f, teal r
FT screw kit
Bearing cleaning

The good thing is setup for VTA, the car was great out of the box...it didnt push or washout in the sweeper...with some ride height and camber adjustments, the car is a winner...I think I got into the high 12's with it...and on my TC6, Im running mid 12's, on similar track conditions

I would make minor changes 1st...starting with 64p gears...its alot easier to get a better FDR...then goto oil and springs

also I trimmed out the battery side of the chassis so the square edge of the lipo would sit without rocking

+1 on Darkside comments, I have a box stock TC4, 25.5, changed to 64p, I run 76 pinion and 60 or 62 pinion, depends on the track. I lowered the ride height, alum cvd's and thats it. We have a large class of VTA and mine is top 5 every race. The top guy also runs a TC4. It handles great!!!

bertrandsv87,

Could you post a picture of your modified carriers (C hubs) to show me how much material you removed to get the LCD driveshafts to fit correctly.

I have tried the XXX-S, JRX-S and obviously TC4 hubs and carriers and a mixture of all the parts but only the JRX-S hubs and carriers fit properly and allow the LCD's to move freely but they widen the track width too much and the driveshaft pin on the diff side is right on the edge of the diff half ready to fall out.
