I have the following spur gears: 49, 52, 55, 60, 66, 70, 72. I need a 75 to complete my set.

Bubblehead, you got quite some time to make up here !!! Good luck next race ! Did you run any throttle/brake acceleration ? Shaft cars shoot from corner to corner quick with high acceleration, making up alot of time in the process !

I don't think 64p gears can run 6s !!! If you are running 48p gears, then 35t/88t will not mesh at all in the tc4 !!!!!!!

I'm not a big fan of programmable ESC's still trying to figure them out, but how it was explain to me I was pretty much running blinky and that's what my car felt like on the straight. I did make an adjustment and notice the difference by that time I was way over geared.

Help me out throttle/brake acceleration? I also notice the how fast the car accelerated in the infield, but on the straight it was a whole different story.

Since Roar went with blinky, I decided to only run the Novak gtb's I already had ; it saved me a pretty penny too !!! Boost will eventually be available only for mod in club races too , but my 3.5t gtb still runs them down in the straight , and will probably blow them away with a Rx8 !!!!

For blinky non-boosted you should start around 4.0 FDR with the timing on the motor all the way +... start from there and check temperatures to see if you can go even bigger on the pinion...

For boosted you'll have to figure out how to set your boost on the speed control and hopefully have someone local to help you out with a starting point... Motor timing start at max - and start gearing around 6.5 FDR... Again monitor temps to see if you need to adjust your boost +/-.

This should get you in the ballpark...

In blinky mode, 4.0fdr start for 17.5 , 5.0fdr start for 13.5, 5.6fdr start for 10.5 .......should be about it.....

This was my starting set-up:

starting/end rpm: 5,442 20,000
boost: 50
turbo: 14
delay: .14
turbo ramp: 2.0
fdr: 6.5

I was told 20,000 was too high, when I dropped it to 13,000 that's when I noticed the difference. But I was changing fdr to gain the speed on the straight so by the time I changed end rpm I was over geared. Keep the tips coming.

I can't find winning tc4 17.5 boosted setups on the web ! Most other belt cars running 17.5 boosted have 6.14fdr(cuffs tc6) to 6.4fdr (Hara tcx)!!! The tc4 needs to be able to run the same range of fdr's to keep up down the straight, unless you guys can find some more rpms somewhere !!! That is why I think lightening the tc4 driveline, while running ceramic bearings is the only way to run these fdr's and not thermal !!!

Help me out I don't understand, why can't a TC4 have a FDR of 6 in boosted? My TC4 spins freer then my TCX and Cyclone with a motor installed.

You said 6.5fdr was overgeared , and most posted 17.5 boosted setups were 6.14fdr to 6.4fdr ! Also even if your tc4 drivetrain spins more freely than the tcx drivetrain, it is not lighter or close to the same weight as the tcx : therefore it will struggle to reach the same top speed down the straight even if it is geared the same. I honestly think the tc4 will need to be geared higher(5.9fdr) to match the belt cars down the straight, eventhough it will be slower in the infield. There is a balance somewhere between drivetrain weight, gearing, and smooth driving that will guarantee a win !!!!

Were the belt cars faster or slower than your tc4 down the straight ? What gearing were they running in comparison ?????

What about laptimes ? I think tc3/4 racers need to understand that their racing strategy against belt cars will more often than not be fast in the infield, and defensive driving in the straight....
