If your LHS can get TC5 they should be able to get TC4 it really depends on their supplier, I'm still able to order parts from Trackside RC but I'm yet to do so.
The parts you want to stock up on would be the wishbones and wheel hubs at a minimum. I dunno what the plastictub TC4 is like so I can't comment on that.
I think gearing for a 17.5 at my local track is anywhere between 5.2 and 4.5 FDR. I'm currently gear for 27 at 5.7 and still go taller. But I race on a track that 1/5 races on so for me its a large highspeed track. I think one guy is trying gear a xray with 17.5 to 4.8. Personally I would just speak to the guys at your local track.

I've only raced a TT01 and a FT TC4, at a guess it will be better then a TT01 (TT01s one suck) but not quite as a good as a FT TC4

Yes, I raced with the composite chassis for awhile, and it's as competitive as the FT TC4 and most other cars.

The arms mainly .ie caster blocks, turning blocks, turnbuckels ect.

I don't know anything about the Orion vortex, but I gear my Novak 17.5 SS to 80/50. Brushless motors have a lot of torque, so you need to gear it high to make use of it.

Stick to the fast guys. Pick their brains, and don't take it all to hart.

So I broke a shock tower and it looks like I have 3 options.

Composite, carbon, and carbon fiber.

Any real advantage or disadvantage between the 3?

Composite is cheaper to replace, but carbon fiber is more flexible.

Default TC4 or FT TC4?

Is your car a factory team TC4 or just a tub chassis TC4?

The Composite and the Carbon are a single peice shock tower, exactly the same except for the material they are made of (composite or carbon). These fit the standard TC4 Team Car, and the RTR...the tub chassis cars.

The Factory Team TC4 uses a 2-peice carbon fibre tower. and I believe you have to buy the pieces separately.

I'm not sure if you can switch the shock towers between the cars or not.

General rule for Composite vs Carbon or Carbon Fibre is Composite is cheaper and has more flex. Carbon or Carbon Fibre more expensive and less flex. If you're not racing, I'd stick with the Composite tower (tub car).

Cheers,

hey i just got a tc4 a few weeks ago and i want to start racing but i want to upgrade to either lipo or brushless set-up. But im on a tight budget so im trying to choose what would be the best way to go first and what would be faster. Lipo and charger or brushless and esc.

If you've got good NiMh's I would go for the brushless first, if you don't go for the LiPo. Having a car that can run rock solid for the race.
When you get LiPo you will have to weight up the car, I've got a 20g wheel weight over the front diff and two layers of lead sheet in the battery holder. It seems to balanced the car quite well.

yeah, i dont have the best batteries, or the equipment to equalize my packs and what not. Also how much run time could i expect from a 5000mah lipo running a 19t of 13.5t motor

buy the brushless first. Most modern Brushless systems have a Lipo cut-off. So getting a lipo first would mean you'ed have to be vary careful not to completely drain them like you do with NiMh's.

I know that Novak and Tekin both lipo cut-offs built into the ESC. But first you should see what other racers are using, and what your shop supplys. Just make sure you get one with the features you want, preferably one with Lipo and thermal cut-offs.

So does the LRP Sphare, not too sure about the other LRP ESC's. I've only used the LRP Sphare and the Teu-101. But I would say that one with LiPo and thermal cut-off would be must.

Default Wanted: Tc4

I am looking for and wanting to buy a roller tc4, it doesnt even have to have tires. I will be putting in my own electronics.

There are two types of tc4 chassis and i really dont care which one. I would prefer that the car be carpet driven only, but if it is good condition nonetheless, i will concider it.

If anyone still reads this thread and is wanting to get rid of a Roller ONLY...hit me up

oliver_n_oscar@hotmail.com

Thanks
