Yeah Brian, I keep seeing all these touring cars that are coming out and they are all awesome looking. I keep saying man maybe I will give that car a try next spring. Then I run my BMI TC4 and I'm absolutely blown away at how good this car is. The car just works! oh, and on a side note. Neither Bill nor I have blown a single gear since we got the cars. Its amazing what happens when you replace worn input shafts

Thats cool. Glad they are working for you. I'm considering getting another touring car after taking a few months off again. Not sure why as I don't have anything close to me that is getting a turnout other than Horshem at 2 hours away.

Way under geared. For stock I start with 35/96 no matter where Im at. I can usually tell in one lap how far off I am. If you want a more scientific method then make your roll out about 26-27mm for starters then adjust. You also want to run either a 96 or 100 spur. I have the 100 on there just because it was one I grabbed at the moment. For the 540 class I would drop down about 6 or so teeth and try it from there. I have no experience with them but that would be where I would start.

Brian, Dave Worth and I have been talking here and there and from what I can see the FT and BMI are very similar. I think the BMI has a little more initial steering if you run identical setups because of the batteries moved forward but I don't believe it to be a huge difference. The one difference that I did like is running XXXS hubs in the rear. Dave is actually experimenting with front arms on the rear....this allows you to have more of a TC3 feel in the rear (angles the drive shafts forward) I havent tried it yet because of the lack of track time. Im running a variation of Spense's setup from Mimi's and it seems to be good so far. Only ran it on a very small track though.

Right now I'm just racing some dirt oval again like I did 15 years ago. Still working on the heli thing as well. I might get another touring car but I still want to run mainly asphalt as I will never love carpet racing.

This is the type of question I have. Right now Im running carpet. I have my car with 1 shim under each block EXCEPT the rear block on the front end (Triangle). What happens to the car if I add 1 shim all the way around. what happens if I only add the trianlge. What happens if I run no shims. I'm not looking for "you add anti dive" or "you change roll center" . I know the technical terms....lets translate it to what happens to the car on the track.

I just can't get into offroad that runs slicks and is more like a touring track with jumps. Its just not the offroad racing that I'm inot for me. Nice place but just not for me.

As for the shims. The results are like all touring cars. Raising the roll center will be like adding sways and takes away some traction and the car will not roll over as much in the turns. Just the opposite when removing shims.

Anyone who was at Nats have Baker or Skidmore's setup? Also on Barry's vegas setup for club racing would you drop down one rate on the springs since bite would be so much lower?

Hey all,
I moved from Off-Road to On-Road and I bought a TC4 Factory Team kit. I got her together and the biggest problem I have is torque steering. Besides re-working the Diff up front what else can I do to stop this from happening?

28mm should be the width, what is the diameter of the tire. My guess is somewhere around 57-60. I personally run around a 60.5 diameter because the tires I run (TM Racing )have a slightly larger rim. Kind of an "inch up" design, so for me to get the same size sidewall I have to start with a slightly bigger tire. If I were to run on a 50foot track with a 10-2 I would start with about a 30-33 pinion and 100 spur. Im not sure how that would be because I mainly run stock and 19 turn. I would say that you should hear your car peak out on the straight away about 3/4 of the way down. This might be harder to do on such a small track. I noticed that when I watched the pro's run they are running with much more RPM than I tend to run with. What I mean is I guess I tend to over gear a tad compared to what they are running. Im still experimenting with this in Modified. Its way different than when I ran offroad LOL
