  • Quote: SOVIET: I thought that was you Sean! Yeah there was some serious discussion about 1/12th this weekend. Justin wasnt there, but Tim was, and the discussion with Larry was the second entry fee could be a bit cheaper, and it would encourage multiclass racing per driver. I refuse to buy another car i wont use... and i wont use a 1/12 there if there is a 30$ charge to run two classes, and there are no entrants. I wish i hadnt sold the one i had, but oh well. The general consensus from race command is no reduction in the second entry fee. We will have to wait and see. I wont be there this Saturday, but as far as i know, there will still be racing. Im glad to see you decided to wheel the TC4 on the rug... im sure you will have a blast!

Lets get folks convinced that 1/2 entry fee to run 1/12th is the way to go!

I look at it like this. Alot of folks have 1/12th cars, however they refuse to run them due to the double entry fee. If the entry fee for any other class after your first is 1/2 then the shop is still making money it wouldn't of made in the first place!

Why??? Because folks would then be racing more than they would have been if the cost comes down to a reasonable level to run 1/12th.
  • I always run rebound, @ 3/4ths travel. We do have new shock caps coming out with bladders, that will offer adjustable rebound. I have them but have not tried them yet. that is the next step for me.

    Get on it then Walter!!!!
  • Anyword on the release of the battery strap?
  • Ever heard the expression Spoil a ship for a halfpenny worth of tar

That's what AE have just done with the TC4 FT. Such a brilliant car, with every conceivable extra, even a choice of diffs, then skimp on a bit of carbon for a battery strap.

Call us amateurs. Call us not professionals. Call us what you like. We prefer to secure our cells with a proper battery strap.

What a pity. Is this the Thunder Tigers influence, or what !

It's XRay's influence. They pretty much made it standard to make the battery-strap an "extra" with CF chassis TCs. AE is simply following the $$$ and doing the same.

Lets see... (Purely Theoretical numbers for illustration)

    20,000 FT TC4s sold = $7,000,000

If only half of the people buy a battery strap at $15.00 each then...

    10,000 "Factory Team" batt-straps = $150,000 in extra sales.

A nice kicker to the bottom line...
  • Yeah. The strap would had been nice. Or at least put the tape int the box. LOL
  • tape always works better.
Whats next?...you guys are going to whine about no Tamiya battery plugs being included in the kit?
  • I have used tape in the past. A strap is much more reliable than tape and secure. So what is wrong with wanting to finish a race with the battery still in place?
  • Battery Strap
    Just a devils advocate post.Xray-about 400.00 plus,Tc4-330.00,give or take.Another 15.00 for a strap,and it's an Associated.Hmmmm.Please,don't take this as a flame,look for the humor.Mario.
  • Tape works much better and helps with weight balancing issues. So before ya all start your rants.....yadda yadda yadda
  • I understand that a battery strap effects the tweak of the car because in order to get the strap tight it puts alot of pressure on the battery side causing the chassis/brace to flex/Bow.
  • Lets see here -- the kit is called a FACTORY TEAM TC4-- All of us factory drivers have been taping our batteries in for the past few years.
I have seen alot more batteries come out when using a strap rather than tape. Plus with tape they don't move around affecting tweek.

    Walter
  • And for those of you that would like the battery strap-- it was on display in Vegas, so it should be availble shortly.
