I know this sounds old fashion but you might have to go even lower on your pinion. Take your car our in the street and try this. Measure off the distance of your longest straightaway (from your track) on the street. Then run your car through that measured distance and listen to the motor if it has topped out about 2/3 of the diatance then you are close. I know your car is real fast with those large pinions but that speed isn't needed for the size of track you run.

Oh sure, I just order my chassis and now Jason talks about a new motor mount.

Actually that looks good. As soon as they're ready I want one!

i will be making the motor mount fit the existing BMI Chassis

as for the dumping issue, when you run mod you need to be smoothe with the throttle and conserve power.being smoothe is the key.im not sure what setting 4 is on the speedo but if it set for mod i would just try not to constantly be on and off the throttle.a big mistake i see some people do is run mod with the same throttle habbits as stock or 19 turn.i would also lower the timing on the motor.20 or 21 tooth pinion sounds pretty close.hope this helps.

im sure this has been asked about 50 times on this thread, but i'll ask again anyway

What have you guys done to free up the drivetrain on your TC4? i tried mine out and its not very free at all. This being my first shaft car, im at a loss as to what to do to make it better.

Help me RCTech.net, youre my only hope

Default You can degrease your bearings in the drivetrain....

and lube them with light oil. I wouldn't do the wheel axles bearings though. The drivetrain comes pretty free out of the box. No real need to do anything to it. Another thing to do is make sure the diff and bevel gears mesh the same everytime you rebuild them. Mark two diff gear teeth with a marker and one tooth on the bevel gear. Make sure you line them back up when you reassemble.

I just bulit a new team kit with team bearings. keep in mind if you do it this way and are drving on a very dusty/sandy surface the bearings will not last.

I take out one side of both front and rear diff bearings (the shield) I face that inward so the outside is still somewhat proteceted. i bougt a sonic jewelry cleaner (9.00) and filled it with motor spray and cleaned all bearings except the diff bearings(small ones). i add one drop of bearing lube to each bearing.

i then take a dremel and lightly i say this cause after four tc3's i still took a little too much off my tc4.

dremel where the two large diff bearings ride top and bottom case halves.
then dremel where the small bearings ride. this reduces the pinch when the halves close.

with the "cheaper" bearings and the tires on my car and after todays runs the car still spins for over 30 seconds after giving the tires a spin.

Question on spools, one ways, and tire wear. If all things are equal will a spool wear front tires harder than a one way would?

Yes...

A spool will ALWAYS wear the outside tire more than a one-way.

Remember, a one-way simply allows the front wheels to free-wheel during deceleration. It still retains differential action.

Conversely, a spool is always locked and never functions as a differential (a la inside wheel slower than outside.)

food for thought.
