Default Light weight steel diffs

Hi guys,
Just about to convert over to the AE steel diffs after busting a few plastic ones indoors. Other than the diff halves themselfs, and a diff rebuild kit for the steel diffs, is there anything else I need to convert over from the plastic diff halves?

Cheers and thanks in advance

nope

Tho the rebuild kit is not the same one you would use for the plastic outdrives.

I believe its the TC3/NTC3 rebuild kit.

Somewhere in this thread the part #'s are mentioned...

crash master, microtech has 2 in stock of what you need

http://www.microtechracing.com/code/...asp?recid=1248

with that you can build the steel diff.....BUT, make sure you follow the tc3/ntc3 instructions and NOT the tc4 ones

Cheers guys. Is there any issues with using the ball races in the steel diffs. Can remember some issues with the TC3 with this.

Cheers

I ran the kit bearings with the lightened steel outdrives no problem.

The drawback to the lightened steel is they are very heavy. IRS alu outdrives are a much lighter option, but you would also need to replace the dogbones to use them (or modify the stock bones)

Heh sorry I dunno what the part #'s are for the pincushions to allow you to use stock dogbones with the IRS outdrives, but its a must.. as the stock bones will wear the IRS outdrives in no time without em. (or use IRS Composite bones)

Of course

I hope to start tearing down the tc4 Thursday night. So hopefully by Friday night I should have pics up of the finished car.
