Paul TC4 asked how I did the 5th body post mod for the car I am selling. I used a spare front body post mount and threaded a long 4-40 set screw (TC3 sway bar link screw) into the open hole behind the front shock tower. This supports the front of the body behind the wheel well and keeps it from craking. Click for the pic

Thanks for taking the time and putting the pic up Jack. That looks very innovative and I think I'm going to try it. Prevention of cracking wheel wells?; I need that!

Got any other mod's that you can share? Besides the battery mod which I'm going to do in the near future.

Thanks.

Actually, I agree with you. But, I find it to be easier, since I have a 1/12 scale, and it's saving you a decent amount of weight as well. If there is no harm, they why not try it. Unless people are lazy.

Does 6.428 sound too high of a FDR with an MVP? That's a 28t pinion w/stock spur.

Also,
what stock motor(s) do you prefer? I have been out of the scene for a while. When I left, the MVP was pretty new and the hottest thing.

Thanks,
Kenny

Not if your track is huge..The tracks i run on my final is in the low 7's and the Monster stock is alot faster than the MVP..this is just an opinion.

It's not that big of a deal - I run both Pro10 and 1/12th so I'm used to it

The TC4 is heavy - much heavier than those like the Tamiya or the Pro4 so shaving several tenths is a good thing.

I also like the security - when I tape a set of batteries in, it stays in, period. One layer of good tape and batteries do NOT move. I've had batteries slam forward in my TC3 and completely distort the battery brace (hard frontal hit. . .)

Same type of nasty hit with my tape, no prob.

For the track I run on, (similar to what you describe) I'd run a 35 or a 36 pinion - but you might not be able to fit that - I had to go down to a 96 spur to run a 38 on my Reedy.

noline with a 100 spur you may not be able to find a pinion big enough,I gear my C2 72/30 on about the same size track,Corner Weight for the Reedy spec. you should be at 96/41 if you want to get that motor to run fast..C2 final should be 6.0 to 6.2,Reedy spec. final should be 5.8 to 6.0..yes the motor does get hot..dont touch it.. Where I race at if you want to keep up this is how you gear them.

I'm currently running a tamiya tb02 and am thinking of getting another chassis that is more competitive at the stock level. I'm thinking of the factory team tc4 when it is released, or an xray fk05. I don't want a chassis that gets obsoleted in 6 months time, so will most likely head down the tc4 path.

Does the tc4 have any issues with reliability or any weaknesses that I should be aware of ? I don't want to be constantly replacing parts.

Any advise would be appreciated.
