Btw,
I actually dug up my gram scale yesterday and compared the IRS aluminum and the Associated diff halves. The steel ones are 14 grams heavier than the IRS with the full assembaly.(bearings, ring, etc.)

O.K. so this is probably a pretty dumb question. But what is the stock TC4 chassis made out of. I just got the TC4 carbon component kit, and it looks like the same stuff. Can someone tell me if I got the right kit is the carbon kit the same as graphite? And if not where can I get the graphite kit?

Don't feel bad, after posting my diff question on previous page, I took it apart again, and I had put the spring on the wrong side as well!

I was not using the gear that came with the TC4 kit, I had bought a replacement. Seems better now, but not "buttery" smooth as I have heard some describe!

Ok this is going to my last diff question...

The TC4 comes with #3916 bearings, the Steel outdrive instructions call for #6909 bearings. Are they interchangeable?? The LHS does not have #6909's so I cannot compare the two.

The stiffness has alot to do with shock angles and the location of the shock ends.

If you stand the shock up more, the more stiff and less progressive it will become. This will reduce roll and will reduce overall traction.

Also, the location of the shock play an important role in it's stiffness. As you will notice, the front shock is mounted more inboard than the rear shocks. This gives the suspensionmuch more leverage on the shock, and thus it feels softer than the rear with an equal amount of force.

If you are running carpet and have decent bite, I suggest you try my setup. Go with Purple springs and the medium Swaybar at first. It traction is high, use the included setup. Your car should turn about a 2' circle when steering is adjusted properly for this setup.

If you go to the associated site, you can download a full parts list in excel format for all their parts. Those two numbers show the following:

78469506909 6909 Bearing, 3/16 x 5/16, for steel diff 2 $6.00

78469503916 3916 Bearing, 3/16 x 5/16", for #3908 and 3913 pr $11.00

Same size, not sure if they are made of different things. the 3916's are twice the price, unless the 6909 is the price for one, hard to tell from the spreadsheet.

I built the steel diff with the bearings that came with the tc4 kit and had no problems "smooth as butter". Raced last weekend with no probs from diff. Check the diff after one or two runs, make sure its not loosening up. I put a little threadlock and I also take a pair of pliers and crimp the first few threads ever so slightly on the diff screw before screwing it into the "t-nut"

I just ran the stock setup posted about 7 pages back. I have to say I loved it when I had everything in working order..hahah. The longer camber links are nice, but the only thing I used was 6* caster blocks instead of 0*. But through some of the corners at high speeds, it seemd like the car would almost hop, and skip. Any ideas?
