You want to be around 4.2 to 3.8 final drive. So I would start with 96 spur and 44 pinion.

That's a Tamiya EVO 5 right ?? Doesn't it use around a 96t spur gear ?? If so, you could go smaller spur. Maybe 70-75 would help ??

Woops, sorry. When you said TRF..it threw me off. TRF is the standard designation for most Tamiya high performance cars including the TRF Evo 5. Can't help with the Kyosho though. Never seen one.
