Default cleaning bearings?ultrasonic?

Hi,
I just started cleaning my t4 bearings, removed the shields soaked them in thinner, toothbrushed them and blow them out with compresed air.4 of the bearings are so gritty,I think these are from the the drive axle, and wouldnŽt become free. What else can I do,do you recommend ultrasonic cleaning for that?
Thanks

i would dunk them into WD for few hours and clean again with airgun.
From my experience some solid dirt just won't come off even using an us cleaner.
Probably busted bearing as well.
For maintenance use, us cleaner is quite good...just can't stand the high pitch humming sound

Nothing beats a ultrasonic bath for bearing cleaning. Use a penetrating lubricant (WD40 is good) I use 1:1 Acetone/Toluene mix. Buzz the bearings in the bath until the solvent turns darker, rinse and repeat. Those bearings will be cleaner than the day they were made.

I just let mine run in the garage. I do it for a couple hours..... dump it out, rinse, then just let it run overnight.

Well, I use an Elma 45W ultrasonic cleaner and it's great.
But, there's a warning against using flammable liquids (danger of explosion or fire), so I only use water with soap!! 15 min and that's all.
How about you Sny?

Well, I use the ultrasonic bath at work, so I'm not too worried if it catches fire. It is always a good idea to be careful, but that said I have had all kinds of stuff (and some of it for work purposes, I work in a chem lab) in our us bath, no problems or nasty surprises so far.

Please note that acetone and especially toluene are nasty chemicals. Consult MSDS information for proper handling and disposal of either chemical. Neither substance is for kids.

But thanks for the idea of using ultrasound to clean my bearings.

Dang, you guys use 35-45W US cleaner... that's enough power to clean the whole car (j/k) I do envy you guys.
I only have a pathetic 300mW cleaner no wonder some dirt won't come off.
The idea running in garage is cool tho....but I won't use flamables liquid on unattended overnight run if that is what you mean, just to be on a safe side.

I am not sure the power of the ultrasonic unit at work, but I'd guess it is pretty powerful. And yes, be careful with the acetone, especially with plastic parts (they dissolve in acetone).
