hey,
any tips for a standard mo5 tamiya mini for good speed?
i find im a little slower then the others and my car handles good but i cant keep up

if you have grease on the gears inside gearbox.....clean it off and run dry!
Make sure nothing is binding in the drive train.

Once your straight line speed is the same you need to sort out the handling......and for that you will have to read and then take what you have read and put into practise by trying different settings.

....edit....Ok I see you mentioned the handling is ok.....you may need to lookm at it when you get the speed up

Really, I would rather have a car that was a little off the pace but handled well over a car that was faster than hell an out of control, especially in a racing situation.

A well balanced mini is harder to achived but not impossible. For that extra speed, it is important to get the drivetrain as sooth and free as possible. Make sure the geartrain meshed nicely, and in order to achived this, be extra careful when joining the two half or the chassis as a slight misalignment of the tranny shafts will drag your car... get that one right, and you can work your way to the driveshafts and so on....
