use the xray spur gears they work the best and are a direct fit..
i was using 64p in the car but was having problems with chipping teeth i now use 48 pitch in mod

gera ratio for stock around 4.5 - 5 may be a good starting point

Well I had the car on the track for the first time yesterday and all I can say is WHOW this car is fast. Once traction started to come up I had a fast lap of 8.3 but ave. around 8.5 - 8.6, But the rearend was loose. My set-up at this time was hard arms front and rear - stock caster blocks - stock rear uprights - front geardiff w/ 500,000wt oil - rear geardiff w/ 3000wt oil - yellow springs in front w/ 500cst - white springs in the rear w/ 500cst. After changing the front spring to orange the car felt a little better but the rear was still to loose. So I put the hard caster blocks in the front and removed the rear sway-bar, did not like the car without the rear sway-bar. After making some adjustments to the radio ( steering expo ) the car was worse. Being that its a new radio I looked in the book and found I was going the wrong way on the expo., I also felt a lot of torque-steer, so I put the spool on and put it on the track for the last time. My fastest lap was a 8.0 and ave. lap 8.2 - 8.3. So if your not asleep yet here is my set up-

hard arms front and rear
hard caster blocks
orange front springs - 500cst
white rear springs - 500cst
front spool
rear gear-diff - 3000wt
tires sweep 32
stock 17.5 ( blinky ) lrp x12
100-45 gearing
small indoor carpet track

If theres anything I didn't cover let me know.
PS John and I will be running the cars again this thursday night, he will have the 2.25 chassis and the new motor mount.
Sorry for the long post.

Ran my first race weekend with the Snake. I installed the servo using the inside Servo mount and used double sided tape instead of the CF plate. Works great! This way it can clear my Kimbrough Servo saver. Servo did not move even with hitting the wood a few times.

Car is solid, responds well to setup changes. Improved my lap times by 1 sec from previous car. So very happy with that.

here are the servo pics:

Thank you!!! For the roll center do you keep the stock 1mm front and rear? And yes, the stock soft plastic parts are no good, atleast for our high grip track.... After changing to hard parts much better.

serpent have 2 sizes of shocks. Short length shocks fit - 411, 733, front 966. longer shocks fit the rear of the 966. the only upgrade available for the shocks on the 411 are the TI-NI coated shafts (903226).
