Yes, it is safe

Has anyone found that the Tamiya #51000 with the 3racing 18mm horn binds on the carbon fiber arm of the servo holder(on the eryx 2.0)? Do you all just dremel down the arm?

I took a little plastic off the servo saver.

Finally drove it. Loved it! Don't even think you'll have to mess with it much, Steve.

I cut down a little bit of carbon fiber of the servo mount and it's been like that for over a year and works just fine.

Does the Gear-diff revision-set (#804173) fit in the Geardiff housing V3 (#401598) ? Is it the same parts as Geardiff V3 composite (#401592) ?

Ok , now to really confuse things .... will Geardiff revision set (#401371) fit in the V3 housing ?

I am just looking for the most bullet proof system to stop chewing through gears .

thanks .

Been at the german nats and talking to the cars developer about the gear diff. He recommended to use all shims according to the manual(V3 Diff). But you can use a slightly thicker shim which covers the outdrive seal (the big diameter shim). It should be 0,2mm thickness in the kit but he said you can use 0,3mm to be sure.

I'm piecing together a used V1 kit and I've got a Tekin Redline 17.5 to go in it.

I need to order some pinion gears to go with the 96 tooth 64P spur I got with it but what final gear ratio should I be looking for with this motor?

What if I want to change to a 10.5 motor or something in that range?

I only have a couple 8th scale offroad cars right now so I know nothing about how much max RPM increases as turn count decreases. Is there a chart somewhere? I have the Serpent spreadsheet with final drive ratios for different spur/pinion combos but don't know what I should be looking for.

Thanks,
Chris

For 17.5 blinky you probably want to start with an FDR of 4.0 which would be 48t pinion on the 96t 64dp spur you have fitted. You may have trouble getting that size of pinion on the V1 motor mount. Not certain about that but I know it didn't fit in the v2 mount.

If you went to 10.5 blinky you'd probably want to start around 5.5 FDR which would be a 38t pinion on the 96t spur.

If your running boost however the above would change. Boosted usually runs higher FDR's than blinky.

Use the serpent gear ratio chart to calculate FDR.

Thank you. That is very helpful.

If you use the v2 motormount, a 40t 64dp Pinion is the biggest possible if you want to screw the motor tight through the spur gear.

Thanks. I'm going to keep an eye on the for sale section and try to pick up a 10.5 or maybe even an 8.5. Right now I'm just building the car to bash in parking lots but I do want to try a little carpet racing this winter.

Default Rack

Hi,
I am updating some parts on my S411 Sports.
The steering rack is just flat plate with lots of slop, wondering what is the difference with the optional steering rack 401465 and the 401395 steering rack, is one better ???

Cheers
