Has anybody been able to fit PLASTIC 6deg c-hubs to this car with luck? I am not good enough to totally avoid tapping boards and such. So the aluminum just isn't going to work for me.

I have tried enlarging the hole in the c hub and then tapped it for set screws to adjust the pin angle that way but it created an inconsistent setting and it was a weak part that got hammered. If you've got the right tools this would be worth a shot. Flat spot the pins.

There must be a better return on investment for Serpent to cad design and mill alu parts than invest in moulds to produce the plastic equivalents. The alu options do look sexy.

thoughts on if the 2.0 can be upgraded to the 3.0 or just get a new kit? what is the aluminum chassis more geared for, asphalt or carpet?

Could probably convert 2.0 to 3.0 at well below cost of a 3.0
There are 3.0 setups for asphalt and carpet already although believe asphalt ones would be for medium to high grip.
I will be keeping the 2.0 for lower grip events as well untill I have been able to complete low grip testing on the 3.0

I would think the aluminum chassis should excel in low grip as it has greater flex and more even flex then the carbon. I am looking forward to one for asphalt to replace my LE.

My question is if you can use the LE/TE shock towers and long shocks on the Eryx 2.0 or 3.0? It seems that some drivers are going back to long shocks (not necessarily Serpent drivers), and as I have 4 sets plus springs out the yin yang, would be nice to continue with the tried and true as an option.

Yes you can use the tall towers. Don't worry about springs as they are the same between short and super short shocks. 23 or 25mm springs are good on either

Good to hear. I do not usually run the Serpent springs, but RSD, sometimes HPI or Xray, though I have the Serpents as well.

I did get the car on asphalt for the first time, and with it a 5.5 mod motor (first time discounting twice in practice on small indoor carpet tracks). Car was decent with the carpet setup, just raised ride height but then started with some bigger changes to shock position and track. Car was decent by the end, but inconsistent, though I would put that more squarely on the tires.

I was out with a team ARC driver and he had brought the rest of his Hot Race tires from the pre worlds so we ran those down. Once they had 3-4 5 min batteries on them, they were shot. He had one blow out and another that bubbled due to the belt splitting. We will be moving to the new ones when they come out in prep for Kissimmee in October.

I will say, mod was an absolute blast, and getting to open it up on a big outdoor track was awesome. I drove his ARC (with a 4.0) and it was actually too much, with the 5.5 being a bit light. Will be putting a 4.5 in it for our next outing, along with the new bladed spool and building some rear diffs with 7k and 10k to try out. Excited about the 3.0, but just learning to drive at speed and on low grip asphalt first.

I have tried this a couple of times on carpet, but did not like the end feel of the car, perhaps its requires even bigger adjustments but on a short, quick transition type course it didn't work too good. I do think on asphalt that this may be a better alternative than the short shocks, but I never get on that surface.

I also found that if you run the S type springs from Xray or other manufacturers that because they are so short you can run out of upper adjustment on the spring collar. If you change out the lower spring collar to the old style it will move the spring up slightly and give you a bit more adjustment.

Comment re: flex is interesting. I'm not familiar with alu chassis and just assumed they would be stiffer. Fact that asphalt set ups exist do suggest alu chassis will be ok for that surface.
Will also be interesting how the harder plastics will affect overall grip on the 3.0
My appoach is a conservative one I guess as I currently own a 2.0 so can test back to back.

Does anyone have any experience using the 3Racing spring set (the one in a box) with the LE/TE? I want to be able to test out different spring rates but don't want to shell out $60+ to do a little experiment. The 3Racing set sells for $17 for comparison.

I haven't used those exact springs but I prefer the RIDE Pro TC springs over all others as they are so consistent and matched very well. I've found inconsistencies with the Serpent springs and others on the market. The Yokomo springs are be good as well.
