It's the LTCR body. It might be the lightweight one. I don't remember. I had my painter paint it about a year and a half ago. I'm just now getting back into racing with the 411TE
I didn't do any crazy weird mod's other than the titannium screws and hardware. (& alu axels in the rear) Tekin RS pro, Novak Ballistic vented Hi RPM motor, Futaba reciever and a JR8800s servo. TP5300 65C 2s battery..

must be very little paint on that body, but i guess the 5300 pack has something to do with it, and short wires. of course the screws, but they wouldnt be that much savings.

thats a very light car though.

both my chassis without tires and body weigh in at 1148 grams but i had to add 7 grams to the stock te car and 14 to the mod car. body weighs 108 grams with very patchy paintwork ha.

really hope the scale is accurate cause with body pins and used tires im at 1381 grams for safety. there will be post race tech so if like... some carpet fuzz falls off my car i might fail post tech lol.
might add a extra weight just for good measure. same with my 12th scale. 731 grams there with tires worn half.

a far cry from my old tc5. i had it at 1400 grams at its lightest, but unbalanced. to get left right balance with lipo and brushless, that car weighed almost 1550 grams, the weight of efra legal NITRO touring car lol.

On my blinky 17.5 I run 48p with 70t spur and 35t pinion. Adjustment appears good.
Am looking to change to a 72t spur and 36t pinion

I'm new to the serpent touring car thanks to Bad007suzuki. I bought one of his used ones after driving his for about 5 laps. I will be purchasing my 2nd one from him this weekend for my son. Another guy at our track (michiana raceway), IN. just bought one out of Canada ( again after driving mine for about 5 laps).

I have read alot in the thread and tried several adjustments, including the steering mods. I appreciate all the info you guys share about the car.

Mike

Very similar in all area's bar the gear diff as xray's diff is like butter and has no competition. There is supposedly a revised S411xx kit coming soon so if you can hold out a little longer wait for that otherwise maybe pick up a used roller to get you going as a few are starting to pop up in anticipation of the new car(I know I will be offloading one of mines soon for this reason).

The serpent reacts to small changes and all the guys who I know that have the car have no plans of changing even though there is an onslaught of X-rays happening...

Thumbs up

I see the new car has a lot of changes. With the parts be interchangeable with the car everyone is running now? I just don't want to pick up a car then all the parts get discontinued. Thanks for any info!

Yes, and I beleive I read that even the new car will just be a matter of parts upgrade for those that want to go that route rather than buying a entire new kit. The base car itself has stayed very constant, only parts upgrades so far are all thats needed to go from a S411V1 to the current S411TE.

It looks like the split arm mounts will require a new chassis.

That is a quote from Marc Fischer in his report from the Longwy race, where he ended up second after Ronald Völker and his Yok. You can find the whole report in the Serpent website and also a setup sheet. I think it was already mentioned here somewhere.

year i thought that but in reality iy is quite different

i use to have hot bodies and tamiya and we used to interchange prts a bit and i thought that was cool too
1 belt per month 1 drive shaft every two weeks that was life

Then we bought the Serpent for my son of Walters Hobbies . and the first thing we noticed was how much it reacted to any adjustment.
the car is responsive to adjustments.
being used to buying prts here in aus you tend to buy a lot going to a new car so i bought the 4 corners.....the price was half what id been putting up with from one of the other leading brands and our supplier always has prts in stock so with no + packaging +waiting i was rapped
and so we have travelled forward and culled of the other brands two years ago
We have now 3 411 of different vintages and they all can be set up between VTA...21.5.....MOD at will
they all respond to adjustment and the optional prts well
They have been converted at times to prime an secondary to allow us to set up quicker by arriving with two different cars ready to go.
The fact that the olders one respond similar to the later car is a credit to the manufacturer
Spare prts consumption is down and as for the diff its not the issue as its durability and consistency make up for any of its other faults.
Our suppliers support and this forum are the reason we have stuck with the 411.

hope this helps your choice and you enjoy some quality racing time
