Best chrome paint for lexan?
 

Who makes the best chrome paint for Lexan? I'm looking for one that's easy to apply and sticks good and doesn't chip and actually looks like chrome. I want to use it for the front and rear bumpers on my '66 Mustang body for VTA.

Spazstix mirror chrome is the best I have found. Back it with water based black. Held up great on my 1/8 offroad all summer.

Tamiya Just came out with a really nice chrome paint. And yes, it is paint.

Foxxrocket, what is the part# for that Tamiya chrome paint? The local hobby shop tried to look it up and couldn't find it.

It's PS 48 Semi-Gloss Silver Anodized Aluminum. You need to back it with black. Take your time it's almost water like in consistency. I made like 10 lite passes.

Thank you for the info about the paint. No wonder we couldn't find it; we were looking for Tamiya chrome paint and it apparently isn't listed as such.

So does it really look like chrome, or is it just a shiny silver?

2-Bad, that LRP paint sounds good. Who carries it and how much is it? I don't know where to get it here in the USA.

That Tamiya paint actually not new, its been around like 2-3 years already. I have used it before but its not like a real chrome. At the moment I m using Alclad2 Chrome paint which is a real chrome very shiny.

The spastix stuff is amazing. I used it today in fact! Its pricey at 10 bux a can, and you should wear a mask when spraying it because it smells like armageddon, but thats what you get when you want chrome in a spraycan ;)

I've heard that Spazstix is good as well but never used it as it's hard to get hold of locally. Likewise I'm not sure where to buy the LRP Chrome either in the USA as I can buy it here in Oz from Melbourne.

Just email them and ask for the LRP Chrome. They are very friendly, & honest people to deal with. I think it's around $45AUS for a rattle can, which isn't cheap I know but it is the best I've used.
