Default Something we thought of whilst bored the other day....

Now this may be a bit 'random', but how do YOU say the word 'Tekin'?!

Is it ' t e e - k i n g ', or ' t e c h - i n ' .

Just for fun!

Cheers.

Well, I guess the people at Tekin are all fools, because they say "T-e-e-kin" when I've talked with them. Thank god you're here

Well not everyone is perfect, can't expect them to get it right lol. Jokes!

Suppose it all depends on your accent. But in an English grammatical sense, and without wishing to upset anyone, I'm not sure how pronouncing it 'Teeeeekin' could be right? Wouldn't it need to be spelt 'Teakin'?

English grammar is full of exceptions.

Take the word "read" for example. Depending on which context you use it, it is pronounced differently.

Go read a book. "Reed"

I read a book. "Red"

As far back as I have been using Tekin products, since the 90's it has been pronounced Teekin. Tea kin.

You are right there, English grammer is a cruel and wicked mistress.

That said though,

Fed
Red
Bed
Ten...........not feeeeed, reeeeed, beeeeeed or teeeeen in any situation. If it were spelt 'Teakin' then your example would then put up a case for both pronunciations. But it is spelt in the same vein as the examples I gave so ...... I still don't see the 'Teeeekin' way as correct. Anyway, not like it really matter is it lol

Round my area I think the 'tech-in' pronunciation is a little more popular, but people still use both.

Out of interest how do you guys pronounce the fighting game of the same spelling?

I know I've heard Tamiya be pronounced as "Tam-e-ya" and "Tam-i-ya". I myself pronounce it as "Tam-e-ya", even thought I'm sure it's not the right pronunciation. Still, no one has yet corrected me, and I still get my parts

Maybe it's an acronym or whatever it's called, from the founders: Tom, Ed, Keith, Ian and Nigel.

Hmm. Doesn't explain why it's Teek, not Tech though....

Fighting game here is spelled Tekken. One extra K and no I.

I would trust someone that actually works for Tekin as to how it is pronounced.

But yeah, the "banned from USVTA" pronunciation is good. )
