How do u get a good set-up?

Hey guys I have a question. How do u guys get a good setup for asphalt in a short period of time? At my local track the track doesnt open till 2:00 p.m and races start at 5:00 p.m. and half the time it rains. How should i get a good setup withen hour and a half? A good setup. Cause i'm always either to loose or to tight, and sometimes it pushes of the corner.

well as long as the car is balanced left to right. all you realy need to do is get the car to be equal front to back. we dont need oversteer. but a little understeer is bearable.

as for how to get this to happen just requires a few minor changes to shock positions.. toe in toe etc and maybe spring rate.

I forget what changing the spring posistion does.

Well as i understand. the more vertical the shocks are make the car more sensitive. if shocks are stood up ant the front it should turn in better. i seem to find if it is done at the back it reduces oversteer. but that might just be in my head.

the more laid down (horizontal) they are then the car is more stable.

Hey, I gotta tell you, you have got to get the XXX Main Chassis Set-up Guide; for a newbie like myself (only 6mths:( ) it's the ultimate tool to setting up your ride. See how I see it is, the first thing you have to do is realize what your car is doing wrong (which I have to admit I have a hard time doing and you seemed to have figured it out ;) ) and then figure out what adjustments on your car addresses that particular problem. But in addition to all this, these forums are a GREAT ASSET for us; so use them to the full  :D .

I think the sequence goes more like....-
tweak
tires and inserts
springs
camber
ride height

TL XXXS - Got to the Team Losi website and look for Todd Hodge's or Greg Hodapp's Reedy race setup for 2004. Put it on your car EXACTLY as described in the setup sheet. If you are missing a part, oil wt, spring to get it exactly then buy it. This will get you 95% of the way to a perfect setup. The rest is fine tuning to get the feel you want with shock angles, sway bar sizes, traction compound, etc.

The first thing is having the correct tire and insert. After that, I think that knowing the track is the next most improtant thing. If you're drving the track like a first timer, then you're setup is going to feel way off. Make sure you can run without wrecking, then adjust your settings.

try to find a base setup that works in most conditions, that way even if your track layout changes every racemeet you will only have to make small adjustments to get the car handling well
