Here is my predicament. I have the Stock Spec V2, it has a blown BEC, I am using it in my pan car with 1 Cell and the BEC let go.

Anyways I have been using a LiFE battery to power the receiver and servo without problem. I have full function with the ESC doing this.

Is there any long term problem with running it this way?

I would hate to have to send it in and not be able to get a replacement or have it repaired for a long time, I'd miss races and that won't work. I've been very happy with it but was really stressed out when the BEC blew right before our state championship. If I have to buy a different ESC, it won't be an LRP.

If they don't have an ETA on the updated boards they need to extend the deadline of when the ESC's need to be returned to them for replacement.

No there is no long term problem with using the rx pack.
If you send it in and get it upgraded you will have to use the rx pack as the new board does not have a 1s bec booster any longer.

It is hard to say with out knowing all your specifics but I believe that you are way over geared. You probably should be using timing 6 but need to adjust gearing accordingly.

Good info to know. the class has switched to a 2S setup this year, so I'll be going with a 2S shorty pack. I'd like to have it working properly, but don't have the time to send it in with an unknown return day, unless I get another ESC to use until then, I'll have to think about that.

As of 10 minutes ago, AE still hasn't received any boards from LRP.
We're all still at unknown ETA for the SXX upgrade and return of our ESC's.
7 weeks and counting for me.

That pretty much answers my question. I sent a V2 Comp last year and it took
4 months till I got it back.

A friend used one of the new boards last weekend and it killed his motor, because it caused higher motor-temperatures He was racing unboosted 17.5t with a fdr of 4.6!

But how much physical timing was dialed into the motor on the end bell?

-10* In the LRP-HPI-Challenge only the lowest timing insert is allowed! His car was fine, too. It was after the change of the board that the motor died! He wanted to try it, hoping to have a feeling advantage...

That's why check the temp during practice to figure out gearing lol

The gearing was 4.6! Read before posting... In this configuration the motor never has more than 70*C.

Gearing changes by track.
At our clubl track I was running 96/45, 4.27fdr, temps 150F
This weekend at out of town WCICS race, I had to gear up 96/47, 4.08fdr, 162F and put in lots more physical timing.
The race this weekend the track was bigger, with high speed chicanes and less braking than our club track.

I'll be glad to get my SXX's back!

Anyone with the new board, how are the brakes?
I notice when I run lower FDR's the brakes get very light and soft in blinky 17.5 TC.
I can't run a smaller spur than 64p 96 so once into 45+ pinions the brakes get less and less.
I've swapped out everything to see if it's electronic, but it seems to be a low FDR issue in my old TC5R.
