I also noticed going to 5.0 fdr in 17.5 actually lowered temps from 5.9fdr,seems gearing this speedo is like the spx i love it so smooth but the power is there when you want it

I definatley wouln't be able to run 5.0fdr (13.5t) at my local indoor track with 30m straight and the rest is tight and technical it would overheat especially with boost on 7 !

I've settled with around 6.5fdr 3,2,5,0 fast enough for me and has good punch infield, although I'd like it too boost sooner on the straight, it sounds like it's coming on to late on the straight ?

I am running 6fdr on a much smaller indoor track with tech. infield

I will get the chance to run it on a larger track Sunday so will keep you posted

I had it on 3,2,6,0 but after reading a few posts I might try 7 and drop the gearing a little to mid 5's!!

One thing I learnt with the GM75 was that bigger pinions really reduced motor temps!!!

I might have to try gearing up then. I'll drop the boost back to 3 and try 5.0fdr, check temps if ok I'll add more boost.

I'm runing 4.7fdr with a GM75 outdoors on a large track, so what will the SS V2 need gearing at outdoors 3.5fdr

S.A.W,

I've Connected my Motor Cooling Fan/Heatsink, by Plugging it directly into my Reciever, using the Factory Plug it came with!

By the way, what Ver Software are you on?...i.e 4.2 or 4.4??

I've run mine on Settings 3,3,9,1 on quite a few Indoor Carpet Tracks now.......some of them have been very Tight & Technical, yet after a 5minute run,the Hottest my Motor has come off is 84 Degrees!

Due to the amount of Torque the SS V2 Generates, you can afford to take the Gearing down as low as 5.0(for 13.5 in a TC).......which seems to make it Quicker & run loads Cooler!

The Recommended Speedo Settings & Gearing on the SS V2 Instruction Sheets is'nt Valid if you've Upgraded to the 4.4 Software!

I tried the X12 17.5 at 5.0 on 0,3,7,0 and it was awful. The motor sounded like it was dying, and the car was slower. It didn't get hot, though.

Running the SXX Stockspec V2 in a 1/12th with a X12 10.5t and 1s rotor, and as previously quoted by Tellan, we found the optimum settings to be 5 on mode 2 and 11 on mode 3 with a 41.5mm rollout. The team recommendation is a rollout of 48mm. Just in case you dont know about rollouts, to get 41.5mm, you need a smaller pinion, whereas for 13.5t TC, the recommended FDR is 6, you found the performance and temps better at 5, which is a bigger pinion.

Please dont think this is a critism, as its not, I'm just trying to understand how we found the total opposite in 1/12th with 1s Lipo to what you found in TC with 2s Lipo!

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.
1s rotor in the 12th ?

I'm running 4.4, never tried the 4.2. I'm going to try gearing around 5.0fdr tonight.

I am assuming you are running a touring car on 2S lipo batteries. The speed control manual suggests Mode #2 to be from 3 through 5 and Mode #3 to be from 3 through 6. I think you need to increase Mode #2 and lower Mode #3 into the suggested range. The reason the motor didn't get hot is that it didn't reach a high enough RPM to get into the boosted timing. In effect you were running without boost and undergeared. Increasing Mode #2 should help it get into the boost.

I notice that some are running Mode#1 in the 0 setting in a 1/12 scale single cell lipo powered car. Why would you not want to run setting 1 to have the lipo cutoff in place?

I'm not sure how relevant LRP's suggestions about X12 motors are in their manual now that they changed the timing maps for 4.4.

I believe the recommendations for Mode #2 when running 1S with a 1S rotor. Mode #3 needs more work as additional possibilities exist. Neat that my settings were very fast and competitive. I can only imagine what the more aggressive settings will lead to.

Yes Chris. As far as I'm aware, everyone running the SSX was using a 1s rotor, I could of course be wrong. Why do you ask?
