RIP race prep 36deg motor, you did me proud with your H cut brushes...
(until I spun the b*****d up on the lathe years ago and it threw the comm into a million pieces...)

Plenty of people want to go faster but not quite ready for a 4.5. then run 8.5 in Mod. They may still make a C or D main.

O-Man ! That sounds great for a Roar Nats .
Cept those rookies ?
They are the ones who have quit coming , that's cus none of you move up and that's the real rub with the sedan ..
No way on-road can recover and grow again with that going on ...

Rookies... @ Nat's?
I'd show them a club race on a small track and let them mature, and the nat's as something to aim for in years to come.
You step up to Nat's to up your own game, or be shown how it's done.

Nationals
I think they should offer 21.5 spec, 17.5 spec, 17.5 open and mod and let the racers register for them. Then one month before the race, if there is not 20 entries in a class, then cancel that class and let those racers move to a different class. That way the racers that are attending the National event will have decided which classes should be run.
Thanks,
Sr.

Since I dont want to go through 40 pages to find this. Was this confirmed ONLY for 17.5 or 21.5 class? I.E. 13.5 classes could still run firmware escs?

One Roar race does not justify what racing only stock is doing for the sedan class's & on-road program across the nation & the UK

Where is your conversation going?
To start with, I saw ROAR as an enemy. Now, I see them and the racers looking at a solution.
Are you against whatever the outcome is????

I have been around racing a long time. Full size cars since 1970 and R/C since 88. I have even been a rule writer for a local short track. I can tell you nothing has changed as far as racers versus the rule makers.
I have run at national events that had three classes and over 400 entries. Now we can barely hold a on-road national due to low car count. ROAR is attempting (just like any organization) to fix that and this is one of their ideas. NASCAR, F1, INDY Car and Rolex have all implemented drastic rule changes to preserve or grow.
I have been using the Castle system for a year and a half. I have friends with Tekins and Hobbywing. We all agree that having those and working with them gives us an advantage. We have also seen racers show up and walk away when they see what they would need to become competitive. That is a big problem. ROARS first step to control the program in the speedos for the "sportsman" classes is a great idea. The only reason to rule those programmable units out is to avoid the Tekin and Orca issues that have happened in the last year. The next step is annual "spec" motors for regional and national races as well as "spec" tires for all of those classes. And I think it is a great idea.
We as racers need a nanny to protect us from ourselves.

A victory is earned more when you have most of the field on the same lap or last section of the track when the winner crosses the finish line, that is racing....
There are a wide range of manufacturers out there with good quality equipment for us to use, but it seems it cannot be categorised and maybe in some cases has made the field spread out, and with a big price tag to buy in to the race.
What gives?
13.5 is getting/has got to a very fast peak now, technology has given us this, driven by desire of us.... the r/c racer.

but the more costly and complicated it gets the fewer that race. Very soon there is no one to race against.
Oval has all but disappeared from this area which was once a hot bed.
Classic Hobbies in Akron, Ohio used to be one of the best indoor tracks in the country and it had a nice outdoor track too. Now it has a different owner and he gave up on oval due to small turnouts two years ago.
the Gate in Cleveland, Ohio had a big special event for the roundy rounders and drew 46 entries. They were happy with what would have been a disappointing weekly show at Classic not three years before.
The reason, take a guess. My mini survey says cost and complexity.
The same can be said for on-road and I believe in the near future off-road. The difference is that on dirt, it controls how much power can be used. But when you have to show up at a track with 6 different sets of tires (12 pairs) at $30 a pair we have a problem. that is why "Spec Slash" flourished until the first racing SC hit the scene.
Please support the call for "Sportsman classes" as cost effective racing is the only hope for this hobby.

Why do peoplethat have bought. The speedos that roar. Have to buy a new. Esc. To race
Is total bs. Make newbs. Race there own class. With spec equipment. I'm not going to buy a
New esc to race roar. 17.5. This racing is the future. Not the past. If you to slow things down bring back brush motor. Classes. Records are to be broken
Quit trying to back up technoligy. to many cheifs not enough indians.
Let race. And have fun

my question is - why are there so few bodies that are on the 10th touring approved list?!?!?

This is a total shot in the dark, but I imagine that all of the approved and "licensed" bodies will prob go away and be replaced with the same body, but without proper licensing. It has to be cheaper to release a new part number body ???? and call it the MStype or similar than it is to actually license the body through Mazda etc...
