ROAR CLASSES??????

Now the "this is what's wrong with on-road" guy popped out from under his rock. Any bets on how long until Rick stops in to tell us "we should all run mod?" What about the "off-road comparison" guy, is he busy gluing more tires? Is the "brushless was supposed to be easier" guy in the house? I see "wall of text" guy is out in force. He always makes my finger tired from scroll wheel overuse.
FYI, a real name is required on the ROAR forums. It doesn't mean anything other than, when you're offering your feedback, you should know who you're talking too, and they should also. I think it just improves the tenor of the discussion. For some reason, these forums seem to inspire the worst in some of us. It seems easy to lose perspective that this is a hobby that's supposed to be fun, exciting and relaxing. I'm just sayin'...

I get sick of hearing the opinions of the unwashed masses in our little corner of the R/C world myself. It would be nice if I could make people pay a fee before they're allowed to express them, it would probably keep the riffraff out. And probably most of the good input, too. But hey, at least what does get through will be all fluffy bunnies and baby squirrels, right?
Can I use my porn star name? 'Cause that's how much I actually care. Truly, I should have just ignored this thread from the beginning like I planned to. Jeff totally baited us. There is some good input here, but 90% of the people who complain:
*don't belong to ROAR
*have no intention to
* and either want things their way with no consideration for consequences or just don't like the idea of "rules" or being told what to, do or all of the above..
Just because you can't go off on an anonymous screed against who ever doesn't mean a forum is worthless. Perhaps it might promote half way civilized conversation.

This year at Timezone we switched from 17.5 boosted and 13.5 boosted to 17.5 no timing for our club races as well as our Northwest Series. This change has been extremely positive for the club races. We regularly have a C main on Thursday nights and the racing has become much closer between the experts, intermediates, and beginners. Honestly when it was proposed I wasn't in favor of it but I was wrong. It has been the best thing for racing. No more chasing the speedo of the month, who has the latest upgrade, or who's running what for boost, turbo, delay, rpms, etc. Just play a little with gearing and then spend all your time working on your cars setup and your driving. It has become much less about spending money and more about setup and skill.
There is nothing more frustrating then going to a big event be it regional or national and being the "have not" and getting beat by the "haves". Be it tires, speedo or software updates, or batteries, it sucks when only the team drivers get the good stuff. Lipos, spec tires, and no timing classes level the playing field for all involved and reduce cost.
I think adding the 21.5 sedan class for the ROAR nats is the right move. It gives the VTA guys a class to transition to as well as creates a class filled with amateurs.

not being one to be afraid of admitting he was wrong on something, I found this little ditty under one of the registration boxes. I didn't notice it before
"You must register with your name as indicated on your ROAR membership card."

this is not about being a roar member or not. this is about "roar" as a governing rules body.
I am not a roar member at this time, but i have been.
roar has always had a hard job in making the rules that influence the racing community. blinky not blinky - 17.5, 25.5 21.5 these are not the questions. roar is the governing body that makes the rules that last for that race season so people know what equipment they need for that season, not oh what we are going to run 4.5 on 3 cell in a VTA.
my question is why change the rules at mid season????
if there is not- there should be a protocol for class additions!!
where are the class beaning run that the new classes are from?
more pointed WHAT tracks and HOW MANY are showing up.

i think maybe the part about 21.5 being a 'demo' class is being overlooked, turning the timing off is NOT a new rule mid season.
the most important question is being over looked,
WHAT THE HELL KIND OF GEARING DO I NEED FOR A 21.5?? like a 2.8 or something?
