3.5T LRP Vector X12 modified motor..
Hi,
i received my first modified brushless motor... with lrp sxx tc spec esc..
can you guys help me of how should i maintain the motor and what items do i need to make the motor fresh?
grease? and whatelse? oil on the o rings?
also one more thing..
what should the final ratio is perfect? cos atm i am using fdr of 6.4..
the internal ratio is 2.5.. so would u guys help me which spur and pinion should be perfect for 3.5T modified motor?
thank you

fdr is way too low...
I use around 8.2 with a 5.5t so i would imagine you would want around 9.0fdr...
A light bearing oil on the bearings is all it needs with the occasional strip down to remove any built up dirt/rocks. Check the bearings also (when disassembled) and replace if they are noisy or notchy...
3.5 is pretty powerful. If your not sure what your doing you could end up with a dead motor and/or speedy pretty fast...

hmmmm,
the speedo and the motor is hot with 6.4..
arrghh man.. the higher ratio means more top speed?
just only light oil? like any oil types?

You're going to burn things up with a FDR of 6.4 and a 3.5 motor.
Here's a suggested gearing guide from Novak for their Ballistic motors which may be a good starting point for you:
http://www.teamnovak.com/tech_info/b...r_gearing.html
I'm not familiar with LRP ESCs so don't know if the one you have has any profiles with timing but make sure you're in a profile with no extra timing from the ESC.
Invest in a temp gun, Pro Exotics PE2 or the one from HPI aren't bad and temp the motor frequently (every minute or so) when you're playing with gearing on that powerful a motor to make sure you're within the temp range recommended by the motor manufacturer.
3.5 is really a lot of power. When I stepped up to one of those from a 6.5 the difference was huge. I prefer a 6.5. The 3.5 is really a handful to manage and everything is under a lot more strain with that much power.

Does the ESC have "Feel" and "Boost" settings?
Go a few steps back on them.

You should go for an FDR above 10.0 or 11.0 (as already mentioned)

hmmm, yeah according to drag race... low fdr... but.. i also want to use for touring.. when i use the 6.04 fdr for 2 runs.. it was ok..
since i used the 9.72fdr.. motor is hot and esc seem hot too..
i checked the manual and it should be around 8 fdr.. so it seems that i am undergeared or what?? so confusing.. the esc sxx tc spec is all default.. i checked the blinking lights and stuff......
