so what is the normal meter value on rotor or sator ?

Hi guys

Got a thunder power 17.5 motor with a12.5 high torque rotor
I run 4wd off road
Is it better to gear down and turn the timing up or to gear or high and turn the timing down on the motor
I run a 69 spur with a 33 pinion final drive off 5.3

Thanks Jim

Can someone help me with my gearing and possible ESC settings on a Tekin RS PRO. I'm planning to put in a TP 7.5 into my Xray T2 '009.

Also I am using a TP 8.5 1cell in a WGT. What type of rollout and ESC settings( Tekin RS PRO) do I need to be around for this setup.

Default Sensor

Hi, wish to know. What cause the sensor ocassionally fail after 1-2 min run?
Is the sensor completely dead? or too much free play from the shaft to housing causing the sensor distance too far? thx!

This is what I have been thinking about.

I believe if you are using the high torque rotor you should gear up and reduce the timing. (the higher gauss of that rotor will reduce it's top rpm).

I geared down and turned the timing up to full on the weekend and the car was a bullet finished a lap in front of everyone else and motor was only getting to 70 degress after 5min race

I gotta say, even though i had a motor literally smoke on me it was running super strong. Emailed the company got a super fast reply. Been lazy so far on my end but hope to be shipping the motor out to em. I LOVED that motor.

Did you also try going the other way?

Yep but it got hot really quick
All I can say is that the more I go down in pinion the faster it go's I'm run 69/30 and 45degress of timing in a Schumacher cat sx3 thunder power g6 5000 saddle packs and the 17.5 motor with ht rotor and the thing is a bullet heaps off bottom end and to much top end but I love it

I'd start the gearing on whatever the others run at Newbury. Somwhere on here was mentioned that the best amount of timing in blinky was around 35deg.
Gear a bit conservative and see what happens.

Trouble is you're running motors that not many people use.

What was your gearing on your previous motor etc, then go from there.
The Thunder Power do seem to be able to take a wide range of gearing without immediately melting.

Got to run my new 10.5T motor tonight, left at 20 timing, I ended up with a 4.8 FDR, or 41.888mm roll out.

Super cold night so I was wary of pushing it being so new, running around 65C, although then in the second final I pushed the timing to 25 and it came off at 60C, I suspect that means I'm getting close to the sweet spot?, at this point I'm unsure if to try more gear, or crank more timing?.

What is a little odd, to me anyway, if I did not match my best times with the Hobbywing motor, the ZR3 felt like it had more bottom to mid, but it's not translating to faster overall yet.
