Default Carpet Rubber Setup vs Aspahlt

Assume after some effort I was able to come up with a good setup for carpet(17.5 rubber TC), how close would this setup be for prepared parking lot asphalt track?
Are there any adjustments which are standard or typical?

Hello Kevin!
What kind of pinion gear are you usually running with LRP 5.0 motor?
And what any special mods should I do with TC6 shocks? On some pictures I saw on TC6 shocks with old shocks bodies, what is that?
Thanks!

Hi there,

I have been running xray dual joint simply because hotbodies have been very hard to find ! I have not done any mod to steering block ! Right now I plan on going back to stock driveshaft in the front if using a front gear diff.

As for the spec R I have not had any issues with it in modified !

Hi Kody,

the stock rotor will work fine but will have a little more dragbrake than the 12.0 rotor. The 12.0 works seem to have more top end speed as well and a smoother feel.

Hi Troy,

I havew been running dual joint axle in the front simply because I have been running a spool but I am convinced that with a gear diff in the front the stock cvds wont be a problem ! As for an associated gear diff it is not out of the question for sure

I honestly dont change much from asphalt to carpet ! the main thing is usually we want a little more steering on aspahlt than we do on carpet ! Let say a very good asphalt setup might steer a little too much on carpet so I would start with the same setup and tune from there.

Hope this helps

I pretty much ran the same setup from Cleveland ( US indoor champs ) But I have been running Silver all around for spring lately thats about all I changed.

I will be doing some more testing in the next few weeks as I have a lot of races coming with the ETS in autria next week end, The 4th leg of the grand slam in 2 weeks and the Super stock National in 3 weeks. I will let people know of my finding on here .

I usualy run a 8.7 ratio with a 5.0 ! As for the TC6 Shocks, I did not do anything special with mine I built them the way it says and I have not had any issues yet. I heard some people sand the plastic piece where the oring goes so it doesnt squeeze it which is not a bad thing to do otherwise I wouldnt do anything special !

Usually it will do it on the bench but wont be bad at all on the track, the one thing you can do is limit the steering throw by placing a small shim on the steering blockwhere it hits the castor block to limit it

Hi ,

There isnt much of a difference between the capacitor, it is just an improved version which is actually 3 capacitor into 1 ! but the difference is not something you can notice right away.

As for Pauls 12 scale I am not sure what he ran for esc but maybe he like the feeling better with a receiver pack as the servo is a little faster ? I am not sure sorry .

You can achieve the same with a 2 hole piston as you would with a 3 hole it just depends on what size the holes are ! I personaly have been running 3holes and done all my testing with 3 holes.

In order to run those you need to get 5x10x3 bearings and xray hex and dremel some material off the castor block. As I mentionned before, next time I get to go test I will go back to stock Driveshaft with a front gear diff.

Hi,

It is pretty hard to say considering all the esc being different and with so much adjustability now and motors being different it is hard to get a good idea for gearing but I would start somewhere around 6.3 to start with and see with motor temp !
