Out of all the ESC's that are legal in the VTA rules, which ones is best?
Defining best as in most reliable, cool running, least problematic.

Probably best if you asked this question to the folks who race VTA. They can be found here :

As a general rule, the "best" Spec escs are identified by their on-resistance; the lower the OR, the higher performance the esc. Of the Novak controllers approved for VTA, the GTBs and SLYDRs have the lowest on resistance.

Having said this, when you are running such a high-wind motor---25.5T--- the OR becomes less of a factor. So, of the approved escs, most will perform very well. Our Havoc 2S controller is (by far) the best seller for USVTA racing, and reasonably priced.

I currently have (3) different USVTA cars on the bench with (3) different manufacturer's ESC's in them.

I can truly say, IMO, one is not better/faster than the other, nor have I had any issues with any of them. If I had my choice though the one that I would probably run is no longer available.

One of the regional series here in the midwest is allowing the ROAR Sportsman ESC's for VTA, but I believe the top 3 at each event have all had USVTA listed ESC's in the cars.

I like the Havok Pro or the Black GTB...just for color...lol...Ive ran my GTB and now my Havok in the same car and setup, and Im still turning the same lap times....

I dont think you will find any real difference and any of them to consider a better or worst...I think you will just pick what your pocket and preference will allow and be at the same level as the guy running a different esc than you...it will all be about the same.....

good luck and happy racing....VTA RACING that is...

Thanks for your input everyone.

I wasn't thinking there would be one that gave any advantage. Just wante to make sure there wasn't a more reliable one compared to the others.
