If I were looking to buy a new motor right now, I'd probably buy the duo3.

Any of the manufacturers motors are capable of winning, if the car is setup and you can drive it.

I don't know what the best 17.5 on the market is but this is my top 5

#1) LRP X-11
#2) Novak Ballistic
#3) Trinity Duo 2
#4) LRP X-12
#5) Speed Passion

Alot of the motors are so similar that you just have to pick what makes you feel the most confident on the drivers stand. All these motors do have different characteristics, and some excell under certain conditions.

Thanks for the reply Guys
My current motor is a old speed passion but it has no ajustments as far as timing goes. Im only new to on rd as ive always raced off rd thats why ive asked the question. there are just to many to choose from. My current motor still goes well as i quilified 2nd at the last meeting which was only my third try at on rd racing but i just want that little more as we allways do. i will do some surching on what has been suggested and go from there.
Thanks Mark

Spec wind motors, such as the 17.5s, are pretty much the same; select a manufacturer who continues to support your motor purchase with service repair items and after-market replacement programs, such as Novak. Purchasing a motor is the beginning of your relationship with the manufacturer, not the end.

I've been fast with a Novak SS, Novak Ballistic, Duo 1, Duo 2, Putnam Trinitys, some Orion-based motor (can't remember the label) and a Redline. Pick the one you think looks the coolest and find a good setup. That's all there is to it......

Duo 3 is the new bad ass on the block.

We've been running Fantom's version (Ion 3) with great success in off road, TC and 1/12.

The other 17.5 that has been working really well is Speed Passion's Competition v3.0. Very smooth, takes a lot of abuse like the Duo based motors. It's only limitation is that you can only put 10* max timing in the end bell.
