Hey guys. I'm looking to race my tamiya touring car and at the only track near me in Australia, which is still at least an hours drive, is very strict on the IFMAR rules for race days. Which means a 4 door replica sedan limited to a max of 195mm shells, so all the crap ones basically... Not that I have anything against people who like WRX's and Lancers, I just hate them to death and would honestly take away from the enjoyment of racing everytime I look at my car and it's one of those. I currently have a 66' Mustang shell and I love it, muscle cars are fantastic. So does anyone know why they only make the muscle cars in 200mm? And is there anywhere I can get one that is 190mm? I think it's ridiculous that manufacturers think that everyone likes subaru's and mitsu's. Anyone else think so?

I'm with you. When I got my cyclone TC I was bummed to find so few good looking bodies available, till I found an old but still in package proline ferrari F50 body in the back of their shop. I even got it for cheap.

Mustangs don't qualify from the start since they are a two door car. Most muscle cars come from HPI and I think they are destined for GT classes. They do however make them in 190 size, just keep looking. There are a few companies around in Australia/New Zealand that make Falcons/Commodores in 190mm (as in the V8 Supercar championship, not sure if allowed by IFMAR as they reuqest the cars be replica of cars used in FIA sanctioned competitions).

I think your best bet is to consult the IFMAR approved list of bodyshells.

Search for frewer racing bodies. They have some 4 door bodies that are 190mm. They have a honda accord that I am planning on getting. I bought a Acura Integra from Frewer. I have to say I really like the Acura Integra body from Frewer than the one that HPI makes. That honda accord would be something different at the track if it fits your needs. I can send you a picture of my Acura Integra if you send me your email address.

If you are racing in the slowest classes, then body choice doesn't matter much, but if you are racing in a boosted class or mod, it makes a huge difference and you pretty much have to race one of only a handful of bodies if you want to be competitive. Most people use either the Protoform Mazdaspeed6 or the Protoform LTC-R. If you don't want your car to handle like garbage in any of the faster classes, you need a body designed for it. Buy whatever body you want for mucking about on the street, but if you are racing TC, there just aren't that many bodies with good handling characteristics. If you are worried more about appearance than handling, racing isn't for you.

Contacted them about the Honda Accord body and the only bad thing about it is they don't produce the decal sheet anymore. You would have to paint the lights and grill or make decals yourself.

Kevin Frewer races at our club. He's still around doing his thing. Not particularly internet savvy though I think!
He recenty made some MEAN V8 Supercar bodies for a full-scale race at our adjoining track (Ruapuna). Not sure if he is putting them into production, or if it was a one-off.
