Default Siezed bearings

I have a few bearings that just don't spin well no matter how well I try to clean them. I took the sheild off the side that was unexposed.

Any ideas to free them up? I have tried motor spray and an air compressor.

The bearing cages are most probably bent. If that is the case there's not much you can do apart from replace the bearing.

Also, I don't want to spend $90 for the Yokomo Ceramic bearing kit, know any variations or anywhere that sells cheaper ones?

I have a full tube of bearings the same way. They aren't fully locked up but they jam up in specific spots, like something got caught in a notch on the ball.

once they start feeling gritty like that i don't think there's much you can do about it... acer has good ceramics as someone already mentioned

Boca Bearings

If the bearings are gritty after being thoroughly cleaned with motor cleaner they're most likely junk. You might get them working ok with lot of work but they'll get gritty again very soon. Just buy new ones. Your LHS probably has the size you need in stock. I'm going to recommend the hobby shop up in Rohnert Park. I'm sure Jake can help you out.

Well, for carpet racing we would sometimes burn the bearings to get out lint fibers and what not and that sometimes saved the bearings. I don't know if this would work for outside used bearings since it is particles of sand and dirt. Ya never know though.

disclaimer: always do outside in a safe area under adult supervision and wearing safety glasses

....just to make the lawyers happy.

Thanks, now I burned my hand off.

These were used outdoors.

I use the yokomo teflon sealed bearing in the hubs of my SD, the stock ones don't last long The telfon ones seemed to hold up the best out of the Acer, Yokomo ceramic, and some blue sealed ones from ebay that I've tried.

Try taking both sheilds off and using motor spray with the straw. That way, whatever is stuck in there will go through. You can also try putting in a couple of drops of bearing oil, spinning the bearing, and then using the motor spray again. I did that with a bearing that was completly seized and it ended up working just like new.

I tired that, it didn't work. It still feels gritty. I need some inexpenive 6x10 bearings.
