1/10 TC what brand batteries are people running.

I was just wondering what are people running for brands. I have a 1/10 TOP Photon and was wondering what peoples opinion was on the Venoms packs? I am open to suggestions on other brands. This is what I was thinking. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXZDW3&P=SM

I have been looking at the Thunder Powers also.

Thanks,
Chris

you cant go wrong with Thunderpower packs, the 40C works great in any class..

I have no problem spending the money to get quality batteries. Just want to hear from the masses before I purchased. I am a fan of Thunder Power in the heli world, thought I might look at some other brands. The Venom's seemed reasonable. Also Maxx Amp's looked good.

Thanks,
Chris

I'm running GM 4200mah 45C. They are cheap and got plenty of power. And they are light!

Venoms are popular here, and work well. Thunder Powers are good, too. Maxx Amps are too proud of their own hype!

Most people buy way more battery than they'll ever use.

Venom 30C & 20C

I have a couple of Venom packs - 1 30C ROAR legal pack and a 20C hardcase. They work fine. The discharge rate is pretty good, and provides good runtimes. I'm running a 5500KV Castle setup in my TC. The universal plug they provide is a good idea, but can be a bit dodgy (as the end cap can get loose). Replacing the ends w/i connectors of your choice is a worthwhile exercise. For practice and bash runs, they should be sufficient. I couldn't justify spending $100+ on packs for bash or practice. HTH.

I run thunderpower . But we have been playing with the turnigy battery they r sick cheap (25$$) and I have personal cycles them (4.0 hard case) against my 5400 25c,5000 40c both with over 50 charges thru them. And at 25 amps cycle all 3 packs had more mah than advertised . Avg voltage was all with in .06, and imp was just slightly higher on the turnigy pack . Now considering that that pack did what it did for. A 1/4 of the price. I am amazed are the value

I have to agree with you. My Turnigy 4.0 2s packs are awesome. Balance great, run time is great. Only thing with them is soldering the deans connectors on them can suck. They have really thick wires. For 22.99 a pack, you can't go wrong.

I am running GM,Robitronic,Ace and Corally 5000MAH lip's and all are working great either in my TM E4RS or my Top Photon

i love my turnigy 4.0 packs :) i got 3 for my touring car and dont see the need to spend more money. if i ran mod, it would be a different story. but since i just run stock touring, $27 CDN shipped to my door sounds good to me!!!

i just bought a reedy 4600 40C 1 cell for my 12th scale, and it killed me to spend 70 bucks on that pack! turnigy needs to make 1 cell lipos :lol:

Even more importantly, they need to get their packs ROAR approved so that they can be used at races that require ROAR approved packs.

Mangoats 11-10-2010 10:48 AM

Is there a list of ROAR approved packs some where I can look at?

Thanks so far for all the good information. I an leaning towards anything produced here is the USA.

Thanks,
Chris
