i dont remember where i read it from... but i read it in a thread somewhere (either EvoIII or TRF415 thread) regarding the availability of the EvoIV.

apparently, unless something is available, it will not be TCS legal.

John C./Steve, can you help with this ruling since you guys are TCS veterans.

madjack and steve wang can clarify for us

Look all you want, it's not in the written rules...but a rule it is.

For example, the Eunos M04M (Miata to us in the good old USA) mini kit was released in May in Japan, and in June in the US. In fact, they gave them away as prizes at the TCS races in LA and Memphis. Guess what? The Eunos body isn't legal...yet. Still gotta run the Alfa body if you want to run an M04M.

If nothing else, this ensures that folks in Japan (or with Japan connections) and the west coast don;t get to run with the new stuff before the east coast racers. Call it a Fred rule if you want to, but I think it's fair.

Although those Legacy bodies look sweeeeeet....

Hi Fraz,

I asked Fred (the organizer of TCS series and Nationals here in the US) about this, and basically a part or hop-up have to be available in the US for it to be legal. Not only that, it has to arrive with enough time for it to go through the distribution channels and for it to become widely available for it to be allowed in TCS. There have been numerous times where at TCS events, the tech folks asked drivers to remove a certain part (even though they are made by Tamiya) because they were not available in the US just yet. I believe this is a fair rule because it keeps the playing field as even as possible, it also ensure everyone has a fair chance at getting the same parts and hop-ups. I'm not sure if this rule is written anywhere, but it's been place for as long as I can remember participating in TCS Fred also mentioned that anytime you have questions about legality of a certain Tamiya product, racers are encouraged to contact Tamiya USA for clarification.

Interesting, Steve... The owner of our LHS called TamiyaUSA regarding the legality of running the Evo4 at TCS Nats. We were told 2 different things by 2 different people. The first answer we got was that as long as they were in the hands of the retailers, they would be TCS legal.

The other opinion we got, was that as long as they were on the way to the distributors, they would be TCS legal.

It's too bad about that Suburu body - would like to run that at Nats.

just a word about the Tb evolution 4. Over here in australia we have different classes so therefore different rule however even in our best class(Gt1) the evo 4 isnt allowed. maybe in japan they didnt allow it either?? however in the 415 is illegal in our GT1 class. oh well the evo 3 surikarn shoudl do the trick we also have a cut off date for all our hop up options at the 15th of ausgust. so we might get to run the subaru body

although, that would be a huge deal at TCS... get the Subie bodies just in time for them to be legal... everyone would have to have them, if one person did.

how many you think they could sell that weekend???

i hope to have one by then, but it may not be legal yet. cool, none the less...

Default subaru

Although I do like the looks of the subaru body I think it takes somthing away from the series. It looks like evey other car at every other track. There's somthing about the more realistic bodies that sets these races apart. When I look at my Ferrari it looks like a Ferrari.
