Motor AMP Draw?
Can anyone provide me with some info on how many amps a Reedy 19-Spec Ball Bearing motor should be pulling?
THank you |
Call Team Associated, and get the reedy motor department, they should be able to help you.

Probably around 4-6 amps at 2 volts on a Pulsar. No load (no fan)

Thanks guys...i am looking to experiement with some lipo packs. If this motor will only pulls 10a..then I can use lipos...
Just a thought. |
If your talking about in a car then maybe 20-30amp with larger spikes off the line or during crashes.
No load at 2 volts will stay under 10 amps but even no load (read not in a car but just spinning free) at 7.2 volts it will go over 10 amps in some cases. Give us more specifics of what you are trying to do and somebody may be able to point you in the right direction. |
If you are using a sedan and you tap the wall expect that amp draw to spike out at 60+ amps. Under normal race conditions without hitting anything you are looking mainly between the 20-40 amp range.

The motor will pull way more than 10 amps in a car. Think about how long you run for....6 minutes on 3300s, lets say. Thats a 33 amp average discharge. Thats average, expect peak amp draw to be much higher.

hmmmm...
Using the motor mentioned...and with a 26t pinion, on a 93t spur....at full throttle....I am only pulling about 11amps MAX burst.... |
Are you just testing it on the bench? What is the output voltage of the battery pack? Those two things will have an effect on the amp draw.
|
Your motor will draw its maximum at 0 RPM from a standing start in a fully loaded car. ON the bench means nothing. Like has been said here, 20 to 40 amps is normal, with spikes if you hit something.
|
so to accellerate your tires, driveshaft, motor arm, gears, all the rotating parts requires 11 amps. When you accelerate the car, thats over 1500 grams to accellerate. It will pull a lot more than 11 amps.
|
A good 19T will draw >100Amps when accelerating from a standing start and about 35 amps on average.
