no, you will just have to dremel a little bit off of top deck. You will also have to mount the belts opposite of stock. Simple.

If you are new to touring it doesn't matter what car you have, its your setup and driving skill that makes the difference. I was new to RC a year ago and am trying to learn as much as I can. I don't really think it is my car that is holding me back, its me. Improved setup, building skills, and driving skill slowly I have made my way up the mains and I was TQ of the B last week. This is against 25 drivers including a factory team driver. I hope with a few more changes that I can get up to the A. This week it was learning I had the expo on my radio backwards causing all sorts of handling problems. The car is fast enough. I don't think if I was driving a Xray or Tamiya I would be any faster. My problem is that no one else has a Zero so for setup I have been on my own. I think if I had the AE the factory driver would have me setup alot better as he TQ 3 laps faster than the second place guy. But I love when I beat my friends with there $500 cars with my $100 pink car.

I run both blinky 17.5 and VTA(blinky 21.5 4.2FDR) if you think about it, it is the same cost as 1 more expensive car. I bet I am having more fun/dollars spent

Im thinking about picking one of these up pretty soon and was wondering what upgrades are recommended? Right now Im thinking of getting the narrow chassis, graphite upper deck & shock towers and the vertical motor mount. Are they any others things I should do it right out of the box?

Aluminum steering if you plan on racing.
Upgrade shocks
Get some spare steering knuckle and c hubs

Rest of its just bling as required by your personal need for pink

Good luck!

Default My new Sak just arrived, more questions

my new Sak S just arrived.

The FRP chassis is much more rigid than the FRP chassis on my Xray T3.
I didnt expect the S to have FRP shock towers, or wheels

I was surprised just how few major chassis parts are metal. Only the motor mount.
Metal 3racing Mini shocks look the same size , same length body.
Nice, I have a whole set of those spare I can use.

A few questions
Not wanting to go crazy $$$ with upgrades (negates the whole point of a cheap car)
-All 3racing shocks are weak & sloppy, even the metal body ones. Can I use my spare Tamiya parts to strengthen them & get rid of slop??
-just how weak are the c-hubs & steering arms?? about the same as say tamiya , or much easier to break ??
- the steering arms etc are dirt cheap, do I just get 3Racing spares or just buy the Xray bits that fit (twice the cost)
- whats the length of the std shocks?? I might try & build something better from my spare parts bin(Tamiya M05R shock parts)

Cheers

Why not try it out a bit before you change it up? The parts are pretty durable, I've broken less on it than my TC3 I had. And as long as you don't strip the plastic bits they are OK til you want to replace. I have replaced with aluminum a bit at a time. Its not a bad car, no, its not an X-Ray, but for the money, its great.

Hi all,

So I've been racing my sak s with a bunch of my friends for a couple of months now..
Lately I've been having problems with the steering. It will get slightly stuck to one side after a minor collision...
I've since replaced the servo with a metal gear one thinking that was the problem, but the veering to one side persists after a collision. So, that lead me to think it's a problem with the servo saver springs.

My question is.. anyone ever had the same problem and if so... how to fix it.

If you are using the stock servo saver, bin it as it is crap.
Go for a better one like the Tamiya or the Kimbrough.

Cheers, thats what I wanted to know. So breakages no worse than any other car then.
I sort of wondered, with 3Racings reputation in the past.
Will build as is (except shocks)
Will get some spares thou (steering arms), so cheap its silly not to.

Don't forget the alloy spurgear adaptor and the 19teeth pulleys that you need with it.
This will free up your drive train a lot.

Check the steering holder, not the servo saver, but the part of the steering assembly under the upper deck, the thin plastic bits that hold the steering in place broke after one hard hit on mine and the steering was simply rotating in the center rather than turning properly. Replaced with aluminum part, all good now. But it might be that's all it is.

Thanks for the tip, I checked the steering rack, don't see any cracks or anything wrong with it, still thinks it's the stock servo saver, but gonna order the aluminum steering anyway.. more pink isn't gonna hurt, right?

Also ordered the tamiya high torque servo saver, but in the mean time I swapped in a plastic tamiya servo saver I have lying around. Looks to be working smoothly, though won't know for sure if it's better till I test it on track..
