Default Servo's ?

I've just purchased a second car (Mi2) and I want to set it up as light as possible.

I'm going to buy a new servo, I want digital, but I was thinking about getting a mico servo, But not saying that is the way I will go. I twill be used for touring car racing on asphalt.
I don't care if it will make my car under weight as I can add ballast if needed.

I'm still learning about things but any help would be appreciated.

What are good brands?
How much weight will I save?
Any one recommend a particular servo?
Ko Propo PDS-2343 Digital Servo or Ko Propo PDS-2123 Digital Servo, are these good servo's and why is one 7.2 volts ? will 7.2 volts cause any problems or concerns ?

Thanks in advance for any help

Mick

I've started to use Futabas S9550 lately and it looks to work real good. I used KO Propo PDS-2343 before but switched to 9550 because i could'nt fit my ESC in my CGM in a good way
I don't really feel any difference between them in driving ability but when i put on the scale it is some difference. I saved around 9-10 grams by using it and got 10mm extra room for electronics because the thinner design, even got a smaller esc so now my electronics compartment is like a luxurious (sp?) condo
The 9550 is 6 kg / 0.10 seconds

the 9550 will be the best choice regarding weight and space. but it is slower than the top of the line sanwa, ko, and jr servos. and it is noticeable. i run the 9550's for the above attributes, but i insist in jumpering the +ive over to the +ive post on the esc so that it operates off of six cells. it would be too slow for me at .11sec/60*

the Ko Propo 2123 is an excellent servo. If space is not an issue I would go with that. I have had the 9550 and it was an ok servo i needed it for the space but that isn't an issue now.

S9550 is a great servo and speed shouldn't be an issue. It's plenty fast for Touring cars. It is digital if that means anything to you. I currently run one in my Yokomo SD and TRF 415. Helps alot with space and weight... kinda like what you are looking for...

How much does that S9550 cost? I never thought of using a micro servo. Especially since I still run standard servos in my touring cars.

Default 9550

it's actually not a micro servo. it is a standard sized servo in two of the three dimensions. it is just not as deep by over a 1/2". i believe that it was developed as an aileron servo for the wings of planes

it is around $79, but is tough to find in stock at times.

The Mi2 is actually a pretty lightweight car as it is, but for weight savings I've heard that JR servos weigh less than others, but I've never owned one, and don't know for sure.

Is the Futaba S3150 Slim Digital Servo any good for TC applications?
