seems the 415 has alot more "bling" to it, with all the anodized parts. Looking at the small pic on the inside of the box, the evo IV isnt near as eye catching. I guess they make up for that with performance right?

no offense to tamiya, i like there kits and all but, lately there new kits are way overpriced. I mean how much do you think it cost to actually make those parts and chassis? If its over $500-600 than fine i am wrong, but i dont think it cost that much to make the parts and stuff for the kits.

that thought has crossed my mind as well. Look at the quality of TC you can get for much cheaper
Xray FT
Pro4
Mi2

i could go on. Perhaps the price diff is in the importing from Japan?

And all those TC you just listed were about $300. Compared to the $350-400, and now $500 dollar TC by Tamiya.

Street price in Japan..(average) 31000 Yen +5% tax =32550 Yen =310 $ add shipping via EMS from Japan 25$ =335$ shipped from Japan in 3-4 days after it's released 14-16th ...to your door on the 18-20th of July..

I believe the Pro4 is made in Taiwan, which is why it has so much out of the box for relatively little.

omg, Im sorry but some of you guys are on crack...

first off, yes, the 415 WAS expensive, but if you do some research you can find brand new kits for around 350, I paid 340 for mine. Ok so lets even say 360, compared to 315-330 for the FT Xray. Well, 40 bucks isnt much when you are already spending this much on the damn thing. And you know you are going to spend more for spares and what not. I went with the 415 instead of the xray just because I ran the xrays since the first on came out, up to about a year ago. I am just tired of them. I am not bashing the xray, so you haters, dont start talking smack when I am not.

Now, here is where the smack talk starts. Someone stated earlier about the Mi2 and Pro4 being just as nice as the xray and any other car, for me, the xray and TAMIYA. Ha!!! The Mi2 is close, but the pro4 is way off, I have personally built 2 kits, and the quality, and fit, and everything else sucks compared to my 415 I just built. Some many parts need pre-drilling, and so little quality parts on the car (carbon/aluminum compared to lots 'o plastic). I will gladly pay 360-380 for a 415 compared to 289 for the pro4 when with the 415 comes with everything you need. All the different toe-in blocks, all the sway-bars, all the Aluminum. Not only are the parts better quality, and the cost of all the machining for that aluminum being much higher than hpi's molding plastic, but the parts on the 415 ACTUALLY fit together first time around....just to let you all know, it took me about 3 and a half hours to build my 415.

Although this is only MY opinion, and we are all entitled to our own .
-Mike

P.S. ohhh, and please get your facts straight about the prices of the Tamiyas, they are NOT!!!! 500-600. No, they are under 400.

Marketing 101... at certain price points, increasing the price on a luxury item could make the goods even more desired.

Like all previous Evos, I don't think Tamiya is planning to sell huge volumes.

btw EvoIII was a overnight sellout, how quickly we forget.

ps: it'll be a $800 TC by the time you add in the Ti screws, Ti rods, the missing CF bits, good bearings...
