Default Tamiya Type C carpet rubber tires

Hi all,

What is the deal with these? I know they haven't been released yet, but does anybody have any inside info on them? I have to buy some tires for TCS racing on carpet fairly soon, and will avoid getting some A's if the C's will be an improvement.

Any help would be appreciated.

If they haven't been release yet, how would anyone know how they are compare to other Tamiya tires?

I would imagine if Tamiya designed these to be carpet tires they should probably work better than the other tires.

I wonder when Tamiya will start providing/selling pre-mounted tires for a more reasonable price.

+1 for Tamiya pre-mounts! My fingers are stilled glued together from the last TCS race I attended.

Anybody try mount the Type-C yet? I've fitted them on the rims and they seem loose. I'm using tamiya #53453 rims

I have used them on both carpet and asphalt. I will say they do work well, however they do wear much quicker than Sorex 28's which I would equate them to as far as grip goes.

For TCS races I do run the Type C's in GT1.

BTW I don't recall having any fit issues on the rim. I was using Tamiya dish wheels (#53475).

Odd. Rims are the same size. I've done my share of tire mounting but never tamiya. I barely have to stretch the tire to insert the rim. I'll mess with them again tonight.

Double check the rim width. Tower Hobbies list these at 25mm but other places at 24mm. I'm sure they're 24 (25 doesn't exist although 26 does) just to make sure.

I've run in to the same issue.
The tires seem a little loose mounting them on the wheels that came with my TA06.
They also don't want to glue well. Almost like there's oil on them.
I haven't run them yet. I keep rechecking the wheels every day and adding more glue to the areas that I can pull loose from the wheel.

I wish they had pre-mounts for these.

HI. I've recently bought a Tamiya C type chassis Nissan R91CP. Because of the track where I race I need to put rubber tires on it. Can anyone tell me what wheels to use? I was looking at F103 F1 wheels but i'm not sure if these will work.

Cheers

Tony

no they wont fit unless you reconfigure your kit similar to a F103GT which uses standard touring car rims and tires.
