Exclamation GP LIPO battery

HI guys, check this new Lipo, a come back "weapon" from GP, it's called 4300 series, strangely it says also in parentesis "4000 mah", strange isn't it?

Could make any comment about it, then explain why a 4000mah battery is called 4300 series, just a promotion trick or something else?

Read from here:
http://rss.rcmart.com/2009/04/gp-bat...cing-car-pack/

Best regards

Not sure why.. but i wouldnt' worry. Iv always loved GP... I think they make the best battieries in the world. The question is, is there any disadvantage to running these seeing that they are a 4 cell pack instead of a 2 cell pack?

Me either, GP was 1 of the best NIMH batteries.
About that 1 is just 2 cells(7.4v on the package).
I hope even LIPO has also a big sucess, at least it's 35C, hope it has high punch.
And his price is so competitive, at least is cheaper than Orion, LRP, Reedy and more.

I know its a 4 cell because its a 2s2p, not a 2s1p. That means 2 pairs of cells, in parellel (4 cells), but because the two pair are in paralell, it remains 7.4 volts. I dont know if there is any practical difference, advantage, or disadvantage of a 2s2p intead of a 2s1p.

Anyway, advantageous or not.
I believe it's allowed to put on race, since the race sheet is meant 7.4V without care 2s2p or 1p.
And just set in chargers as 2s anyway, isn't it?
I just asked this just because i didn't purchase LIPO charger yet!

If it was a 2S2P pack, wouldn't it have to have 5 balance wires instead of three? Where does it say this is a 2S2P pack?

I'd bet you that was a typo. There is no way they would use a 3-wire balance connector for 4 cells. That would defeat the purpose of balance charging...

It's not a typo.If it is a 4000 2S2P pack that means that there are 2 cells X2000mAh in parallel (that gives a total of 3.7v 4000mAh) and 2 more cells X2000mAh in parallel ( other 3.7v 4000mAh).Those two groups in series gives a pack of 7.4v 4000mAh.No need of 5 wires for balancing but only of 3 just because balancing can be done only for cells in series not in parallel.
