Is it time again for 1/10th scale pan cars?
It was not that long ago that 1/10th scale pan cars ruled the rc car world. Then unexpectedlythey all but disappeared. There seems to be some sedan backlash due to high cost and flavor of the month.
Is the industry and more importantly, are the drivers ready to make a change?

bleh, another way to dilute the racing. TC racing was the biggest when it was stock and mod, now there's 12 different directions people want to take it. Anyone notice that the 1/8 buggy offroad nats had 270 entries? and they had ONE CLASS, buggy, that's it. Everyone got to see how they stacked up against everyone else. No novice, 5 cell, brushless, pan car class so everyone has a class they can place high in.

I never raced a pan car, but I would love to see the return of rwd F1, champ car, and le mans chassis.

...I never quit racing PAN CARS - I just stopped racing them on ROAD COURSES.
I HATED when the pan cars went to the squirrley NARROW cars - WIDE CARS w/ TOJ bodies - and 2 classes (FAST and SLOW)
I never could drive a 1/12th scale car - when PAN CARS went narrow to me they was just as squirrley as a 1/12th scale..and required a PERFECT track - which we rarely had...
When OVAL went to 4 cell - I would have loved to see OnRoad Pan follow suit (especially since it was already pretty much DEAD) - it COULDN'T have hurt them...but they would have been a KICK to drive - and STILL run faster than most of the average TC's on a who lot less $$$ level.
TOO MANY CLASSES ain't what's KILLIN TC's - TOO MUCH TECHNOLOGY - TOO MANY HIGH DOLLAR CARS that get MODIFIED every 3-4 Months - HIGH COST of Big Time Racing...and nobody wants to race in a SMALL TIME way these days... THAT'S whats killen TC.

1/10 pan car was awsome, I could just imagine an old Trinity Evolution 10 with a brushless/8000mah lipo setup. wow, that would be fast racing for a long race.

Bring them back, it was such a cool category.
Cheap, Fast, depended a lot on drivers ability.
Maybe some things can change:
- real wheel drive but front and read independent suspension with oil shocks
- 190 mm chassis for touring but capacity to put wide foams to make it 235
mm to make it a prototype or a F1.
- Direct drive but not solid axle.
- Keep it simple (pan)
- Center battery open tray.(for lipo, mimh, whatever comes out)
Well, I guess thats not a pan car anymore. Is it?

right, if you want that, just pull the front drive out of the current tourers..
I'd love to see 235 back, I missed that era. 235mm 4-cell and 19t.
Side note, last year we ran the Speed Spec cars (200mm) at our track with 4 cell and 19 turn. They were a touch fast for the noobs, but a blast to drive. This year we have the class on silver cans, noobs and pros love them.

you know, some of us still race them.. to this day the longest running thread is still the pro10 thread, it's just hidden in the oval section.. and if you haven't looked at john stranahan's "pantoura" thread. it is basically just a pan car thread now.. the 190mm cars don't handle asphalt nearly as well as the 235mm cars do.. by the way i raced this same car last week with an F1 body on it.. it was a blast.. this car was built brnad new this year for about $220..
