Default XRAY-TC5-TOP,,,,,THAT IS THE QUESTION

been working with one generic RTR name brand onroad car for a few months and am finding out some moving parts for that brand wear quikly so instead of dumping lotta bux for upgrades am looking for something with more quality which have been TOP----TC5---XRAY---SHUMAKER---BMI and maybe some others I missed
now I know everyone has an opinion re which one is best, but the question here is in general, which one would be more practicle and easy to get parts

Depends on the area but overall Associated parts are usually very easy to get at hobby shops so probably the TC5. If you don't have a local hobby shop and do everything on the web then it doesn't matter they are all equal to get (some just take a big longer and cost a bit more).

If you have most recently been using an RTR then the difference between those various high end cars would not be felt by you (or 98% of RC racers).

Your best bet will be the TC5. Great car, easiest to get parts, cost efficient. There are other cars you get for more money that would be "better," depending on who you ask. It will be more difficult to get parts for those cars.

Parts for the Photon are a doddle to find in the UK.

I run an Xray 009 and can't recommend it enough. Top Shelf kit, extremely durable, parts are easy to get, car is very very easy to tune and work on. Spare parts are twice as expensive, but they break a quater as often. Iv been driving my 009 roughly, all season, and have only broken 1 upright, and 1 steering block.

Xray is the best quality available, best build, best re-sale value

Having owned all of what you mentioned, Xray clearly stands out as the best by a long margin..

The scythe is the predecessor to the Photon. The photon was developed with a huge amount of input from Josh Cyrul. He may have even designed the car outright. So if you are thinking of a TOP car the Photon is the one you want. Im sure there are a few Scythe on the track but the TOP guys have mostly moved on to the Cyrul car (Photon).

I've owned both the TC5R and the Xray009. The Xray 009 is a noticeably higher quality kit. One major difference I noticed was how much slop was in the TC5r steering compared to the Xray. The Xray start up costs are higher but you will break less parts from my experience and have an easier time setting the car up.

Well, Tamiya is pretty damn good. At our local track, 5 of us run them ranging from the shaft EVO 4 and EVO 5 to the belt TRF415MSX MRE (x2) and a TRF416.. Tamiya USA does a great job with parts support also, orders arrive in 2-3 days!

You can't go wrong with the TC5, Xray 009, TOP, HB CycloneMoore, TF-5 Stallion and TRF415-416 series.... All these machines are winners

I agree with you.
You must look to what you like to drive.
I love the Photon. The best car I have ever had and driven.
I got mine last Saturday.
The week before I borrowed a Photon and it was great.
The best car I have ever had.

Xray T2 '009.

I've owned a TC5, and my list of complaints and weak spots on the cars are plenty. This does not mean the TC5 doesn't handle or drive good, as it does. Many people drive them because they save $150.00 over an Xray, but I would rather set my head on fire than deal with the frustration and extra wrenching hours of another Associated TC5 just to save that initial $150.00.

Enjoy
