Thanks for the pointer. That's a very inspiring video. I am deep into the MBX conversion. All my parts arrived and I fabbed up some mounts and brackets. I used the leftover aluminum from the servo plate that I shortened to make a reinforcement plate from the rear diff to the center diff towers. I mounted the ESC on that bracket. I mounted a generic battery tray with straps where the Nitro used to go. Tomorrow I will do the wiring, testing, and programming of the ESC.

I need help deciding on whether to get a 2200 or 2650kv Tekin RX8 Gen2 combo.
I am converting my GTP2e to a Rally, going to be running 4S 46 spur 20t pinion.

Or
Should I be looking at CC Mamba Monster ?

Even the 2200kv will be crazy fast, around 50mph, so maybe a1900kv would be a bit more controllable.

Try eBay. The one hobbyking sells is more expensive and harder to use

I use an older Nokia smart phone with a GPS speedometer app. Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. It works great for speed checking.

Check out "Johnracerx" on youtube, his GTP2's are the fastest there are, he'll give you the best advice for your chassis, Good luck!

Hey everyone,

I'm working with a team of guys at school, we have an Ultra GTP2 (nitro version) to work with and convert to electric and race it. I'm the driver, and last year's car handled okay, but there was still too much ground clearance on it. Do you guys throw front shocks out back as well to slam the cars for the track?

Also, I'm having a helluva time finding a part number for the rear chassis brace off the electric car. It shows in all the pictures, but I can't find the part number. it's the turnbuckle that mounts to the rear diff housing and chassis.

Any spring sets that can be had besides the stock springs? I want this car to be light on it's feet and be very responsive on the track. I'd just like different spring rates to fool with to help me with that.

Thanks!

I raced a GTP2e last year with very good success, car had 10mm clearance front and rear with the long shocks in back. I was using SNR front and rear shock tower which helped. Also used the black front springs which only come for that car. I am going to a DM1 so I need less parts to carry, as I run the nitro DM1.

Quick question - I'm tossing up grabbing one of these or a Kyosho GT2 VE. For those lucky enough to have owned both, which do you prefer and why?

Thanks in advance

How many passes can be made at those speeds before the tires have to be replaced?

The tires don't wear out, they come apart. But, it's basically a crap shoot. They can come apart on the first run or the 20th.
