Pretty much. I believe there is a newer version out that are all black springs, but I've been running the coloured versions for, well, a long time... not letting them go, they are like gold dust!

I would recommend the Tamiya 3mm ceramic balls, they should last through a few diff rebuilds without needing replacing and are smoother than the stock steel balls. The Tamiya 3mm carbide balls will generally build a smoother diff, but will need to be replaced with each rebuild.
The new diff is much better, as the outdrives fully fill the pulley, reducing a lot of dirt ingress. I always built mine up with ceramic balls, and do last a long time. One other trick for the diff is to remove the "spacer pucks" off the pulley, stops it touching the plates, and helps to free the action up a little more.
Having said that, I haven't run a ball diff in a while... loving the ease and simplicity of the gear diff!

Ed have you ever tried the Hara spring set in similar rates as the HPI silver and Gold sets?

When you run the HPI do you normally run all of one rate or mix front/rear?

Never tried the Hara's.
Tend to run either Silver/Silver or Pink/Silver.
Occasionally use Silver/blue if the traction is low.

I ran HPI silvers for the first time last weekend, the car was the best it has been, and honestly although the rates are simular to other brand springs, they are magical. I borrowed them from a local guy, he wouldnt part with them for any money lol, and I asked 2 other guys and same deal, 50 bux, no go lol

So I Finally found some silvers, and I bought the full hara set also, will report back when They arrive. The Hara purple's are a simular rate, not sure if they are linear tho?

If your gonna run HPI springs get some Roche retainers they fit the HPI springs spot on.
Hara springs are progressive not linear, most guys at our track run HPI springs we have tried Hara's but find the HPI the best.

Like Ed said above, lots of guys these days are running gear diifs, if you still run a ball diff get a gear diff and give it a go, took me a coulpe of runs to get the feel of it but now wouldnt go back to a ball diff, try 1000 to 2000 oil in it.
