Brian I'm running 57* of timing with a FD of 3.65 and the motor is temping about 130/135*, it just didn't feel the same since I first ran it. Also the ear plugs u said I just need to put a little bit in it correct?

Yes you only need enough to fill the teeth. You have too much timing take it back to 40 or 45 you wil have more punch. 57 is too much it will sound good but it won't run good it took me along time to learn that. Still want to oner time my motors!
I was told yesterday when i talk to TC he said take the timg back to 40 gear4.0 and check lap times an temps . 4.0 for rpm motors 3.7 for torque motors are a good starting point. Only rely on lap times not feel.

I'll have to try that next time out on the track Brian. I bought the motor from express motor sports and he said that 57* was optimal timing for that motor I got the power I think it's just FD need to gear it differently.

I bought a motor from John a kill shot.2 month's ago I smoked it so if you got your motor to go at 57* thats awesome Killshot motors have a very narrow window of operation. Take the gearing back to 4.0 and give it a few laps in practice . Go by lap time and see what happens. I have been running a d3.5 and I have the timing on 30* my motor is fast. I am buying a new stator to replace the one I smoked I also bought a new 21.5 Killshot motor this week.
I have been running my D3 21.5 on max timing and geared 3.5 and george has been pulling me 8 feet down the straight. so this week I turned the timing down 5* and going to leave the gearing the same check lap times they should be in the mid to low 15's in practice if they are not I will regroup gear up and go from there.George turned a 14.99 and I turned 15.23 for fast laps in GT last week. I think we are going to turn 14.7/14.9 this week IMHO.

What is the lowest FDR you can get using the Smokem 417v7 kit?

Can you get in the low 3's for spec class racing?

Thanks!

I had 88t/53t=3.233 in my car in my V7 yesterday but I had room for 56t= 3.060
so yes there is plenty of room for the ratio you want.

This week I was going to run gt3 with my 417 instead of my TB03. I was starting out a 3.57 and check lap tines and temps then gear up from 88x48 =3.57 work toward a 88x53=3.23 a couple a teeth at a time and see what the lap times and temps are.

Thanks!! That's exactly the information I needed to know as I may try the v7 kit in either USGT or VTA spec classes that need a low 3.XX FDR.

Appreciate your help!

Quick question. I'm upgrading my 417 to the split mount in the front rear only. The one piece block has a 3mm and a 0.7 shim under the block when upside down, on top of the 0.5shim for the block.do I need to add.anything else to make it equal where it was before?
