Standard V5 set up is narrower, B/B vs C/C

Unless you can get an awesome deal then stick with the X. V5 is a nice car but X can be just as quick in most situations. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket buy a raceberry conversion for your X

Right now your only option is through Tonisports in Germany.

What is happening to Tamiya,I was told at the begining of the season, that Tamiya was pulling out of touring car, a team driver was leaving the team, as there was no development being done on their , then, new car(V5) and no spare parts are available for the V5, the only developments done on the car, has been done by Raceberry, using other makers car parts, can someone tell me what is happening, as the standard car is not as good and the parts are showing signs of ware and need replacing.

I'm conflicted. Kiyo was at Reedy race with the team. They've won the last few world titles. They've been second at ETS the past few years. And yet, it feels like the Tamiya has lost a step. Very little innovation in the 17, team drivers constantly complaining about how the car is working, turning to aftermarket to make the car competitive. And seemingly little to no new parts being tested at the past few big races.

A company like XRay or Durango could really use one of the top drivers Tamiya has collected. If they were to release their team, which would surprise me, it could make things interesting.

It's hard to ignore that when you look at the results from stock classes at races like ETS, Tamiya is absent. The pros in modified aren't buying kits, it's the stock guys. And lately, I haven't been hearing much about the Tamiya in the stock scene. It's hard to understand the economics of having such a big, well-paid team and then not leveraging them to test new stuff.

But maybe their bread and butter is in Japan and these races are just a distraction, I dunno. But I can tell you that over here in the states, it's very rare to see a Tamiya in the results of a meaningful race.

Tamiya used to be the car to beat, we're others just copied, but now nothing is being developed by team tamiya, there not even doing spare parts, and the backup for the car, is very poor

I suppose it's possible they're trying to empty the pipeline of parts as they ramp up for some big new change in the 418. Doubtful though.

I believe the black ones are the ones from Square:

Tamiya also released their own:

I think a lot of the issues with Tamiya in Europe are down to weak distribution, it's the same deal here in Australia, we have to source all our stuff from Asia where fortunately it's easy to find and relatively inexpensive.

It will be interesting to see what Tamiya come up with at the end of the year, there are pictures of them testing their version of the raceberry conversion, hopefully they produce something a bit innovative rather than just a straight copy
